Ok, thats one side of the discussion. My own view, and something I've seen happen before, is that when people want to get something off their chests, they usually do it pretty quickly, then wonder what the hell to do next. I knew this would happen, with a load of really unpleasant stuff first. The intention is for this subforum to be the long-term repository for nutjob material and stuff that clogs up other forums. I'm sorry you feel the way you do, and I can see how you'd be angry by the stuff in there - but (a) you don't have to go to a place which is explicitly for unpleasant stuff, and (b) it's an experiment, so it might not last - we'll see.

Personally, I think it's disgusting that there is a thread about my vagina in there; which I have no intention of replying to, without stooping to their level. There is a big difference between people insulting people, and having differences of opinion; I fall into the latter camp, largely.
I also think it's pretty low that no mods have bothered to suggest anything than 'go in there and fight it out.' Er no. I just want to delete my account right now because the lightupvirginmary BRAND is being compromised and I have my blog to consider. (this is slightly tongue in cheek, but at the same time I don't want people searching for my writing to find a load of shit about my fanny)
Again, it's very disappointing, but I'm really getting used to that feeling around here. I'm still holding out hope that the whole thing is one big trick to nuke the bad apples around here for good.

The Pigsty is a very bad idea because:

Its just bringing out the worst in people, there has been nothing in there that has been funny or witty in anyway.

If people want to bully LightUpVirginMary or Cassius or whoever on the internet they need to find a DIFFERENT WEBSITE to do it on. Dont give the fucking idiots somewhere here to do it.

I agree with LUVM and others who have said they care about this place and the community it has become. The pigsty "enourages" the sort of behaviour that will mess it up beyond repair.

It was worth an experiment and its good you guys are open to trying new things to keep the site interesting and fresh but this one i fear is a mistake

I suppose I could copy and paste my comments from the other thread but I think Paulc has pretty much hit the nail on the head. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but it would appear to have turned out badly.

I actually agree that it seemed like a good idea in theory; and if say, they could only post shit about people who post in there, like its the admission fee to go on there, that people can diss you, then fine.
But for those who aren't interested in that, it's just a charter for abuse.

Please get rid of this sub-forum and BAN those who delight in starting threads and adding tags purely to wind up, hurt and offend other users.

On an open forum, particualry Off Topic you will always have differences of opinion and arguements. That's when the Mods need to step in and excercise good judgement. Threads that get derailed by name-calling and baiting need to be put back on track with a three day ban for all parties involved.

I've seen the arguement Don't look then if it'll offend you -it's hard to do when you log in, hit New Posts and the first thing you see is a reference to a User's Axe-Wound??

Bored i really couldnt agree less - i think you have got this one all backwards.

this is probably a silly analogy but i feel like the pigsty is a like a small zone of the city where the police allow anything to go - you can go in there and rape and murder and pillage and burn the place to the ground - then come back out clean as a whistle.

but its just wrong to think someones actions inside the zone would not affect the lives of people in the rest of the city especially as those people can find themselves drawn into the zone even if they dont go there intentionally.

real shame this - its putting me off using solo right now - especially as LUVM has been banned

I'm gonna have to agree. My own personal opinion of the Pigsty forum was somewhere where slightly peculiar comedy could develop. Pictures of kittens, awful jokes and general tomfoolery. But I'm not a fan of "calling people out" and having arguments cos it's the Internet. The experiment has failed BUT i feel it was worth a go.

I still find robby detestable, however.

Pictures/Personal info is not allowed and neither is porn. The porn thing really is because the required age to view this site is 13 (if I remember correctly)
