a couple of picture enquiries

Hello there. I have a desire to have TWO framed pictures in my house. Both pictures I have seen 'knocking around' the internet and in books also. A picture of Morrissey resting against a sundial in Tatton Park in the North of England circa 1983/1984 and a picture of Johnny Marr in a soundcheck with a Les Paul, wearing a leather jacket smoking what appears to be 'a spliff'. Also 1984 I think (from a Paris soundcheck I believe).

It is my intention to obtain HIGH QUALITY prints of these two pictures so that I can frame them. Idealy 4 foot by 2 foot frames.

Does anybody know who has the copyright on these two pictures? I'm guessing Cummins or Slatts? If so, does anybody know where I can obtain large size HIGH QUALITY reproductions of these two pictures?

All help appreciated. Maybe somebody on here has high quality copies of these pics?

I don't have the pictures, unfortunately, but I do know of something that could help you when you find them. Get the highest quality image files you can- for instance, if someone has prints from a book or something, have them scanned at a very high dpi- 1200 would be good. Then, you'll need to take the files to a digital photographer or a real photoshop that has a lot of experience with digital. There is a piece of software called "Genuine Fractals 5" by onOne software (http://www.ononesoftware.com/product...e_fractals.php) that has intelligent resizing and can get you up to that size with good quality- based, of course, on the quality of the image you start with. It's a professional-grade Photoshop plugin, quite expensive, but a graphic house of some kind would probably have it.

The more "appropriate" thing to do is find these images in print- someone here will have them in their original contexts, magazines or whatever- and find the photographer's names. Try to contact them and purchase a print. That might be the simplest, and it's certainly the most ethical way to do it.

The Johnny pic that I think you're talking about might be one of the photos by Paul Slattery? It's in his book The Smiths: The Early Years. I can't seem to find a pic of it right now, but I think that's the one you're talking about.

I'm hoping it's still there Dave! I have been meaning to head over to Tatton Park. Just got to convince a friend with a car to drive me there ha ha. Very difficult when they are not Morrissey fans.
