Default What was #1 on the day you were born

Some people believe our lives are profoundly influenced by whatever pop song was #1 on the day we were born.

    My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

    See which songs you get

"I gave up drugs when the doctor told me I had 6 months to live" Keith Richards

I agree. There is absolutely no way the U.S. record-buying public elevated Lionel Ritchie to such an exalted position. The bullshit you smell is payola, my friend.

UK - Stay by Shakespeare's Sister (but I already knew that )
USA - Save The Best To Last by Vanessa Williams (I don't have a clue what that is, probably awful)
Australia - Marvellous! by The Twelfth Man featuring MCG Hammer ( " " )

I know this is just a typo but you have managed to conjure up, in my mind, the deeply unsettling image of a pop culture Ragnarök. The implications of a "MCG Hammer" is mind-blowing in its implications for the worlds of cinema, TV, music, and fashion. I'm quaking.

Oh Christ - it was the Bee Gees - Massachusetts.

Do you remember the Kenny Everett spoof of that? Cringeworthy it was.

UK - "Any Dream Will Do" - Jason Donovan
USA - "Rush Rush" - Paula Abdul

"I think both me and Morrissey are about as proud as anyone can be about those records. I'm proud of everything the band did, and I'm proud of the relationship, and I'm proud of the friendship. I don't have any feud going on. I support what Andy's doing, and I don't know what Morrissey's doing but I'm behind it." - Johnny Marr, 2013.

It's so sad that "Land Down Under" was #1 in Australia. You'd think they'd have more collective self-esteem than that.

I'm pretty sure it was "Summer Holiday" by Cliff and the Shads.

EDIT: Oh, I then spotted the given link; I was right about Cliff, but I'd never heard of the thing that was no 1 in America, and the Australian charts don't seem to go back that far, which was probably a bit of a downer for Rolf Harris....
