So.... back to London!

OK, this time may we stick to the subject please? London went through a bad patch certainly, but is NOT dead. I moved here from the North 4 months ago and I LOVE it. However, I was looking forward to loads of clubs doing Moz/Smiths nights and so far none!

Any info greatly appreciated.

Love,

A Northern Brit

PS I cannot believe the american attitude I've seen on here, never forget boys and girls, MOZ IS ENGLISH (and Northern). GET OVER YOURSELVES.

That's just the village iddiots ranting and raving, as usual. Ignore them.

We've not heard his side of this debate, so it's best not to slag either side.

I haven't heard of any, but then I have not been looking. I wonder what the turnout would be ? I have promoted rockabily nights before, maybe this is something worth looking at.

Yes, it is.

> I moved here from the North 4 months ago and I LOVE it.

Well, any place would be more loveable than Northern England.

>However, I was looking forward to loads of clubs doing >Moz/Smiths nights and so far none!

That's because London IS dead. Why do you think Moz moved to L.A.?

> Any info greatly appreciated.

If you want a Moz/Smiths night, then you'll have to come to L.A. too. L.A. is still alive.

Love,

An American

P.S. - Moz may be English, but he knows where it's best to live...just like the rest of us American's with attitudes.

Re: So.... back to London

You know a lot about Northern England do you mate? Spent a lot of time there have you? Other places always seem better than where you're from, look at Moz's love affair with London in the early days. And I would also be interested to know how much time you have spent in London and how recently.

Morrissey lives in L.A. because there is so much @#!!!, smog and overpopulation there he can lose himself and wonder about relatively unhassled - that's it.

This forum depresses me - I never realised quite how offensive and arrogant americans could be. You should all be ashamed. So to close:

IF MORRISSEY HADN'T BEEN BROUGHT UP IN THE NORTH WEST THEN HE WOULDN'T HAVE BECOME THE PERSON WE ALL LOVE.

So think on....

So ... we all move on, and we are still loved be those who matter.

Re: So.... back to London...No way!!

Moz moved because he became an overweight middle-aged milllionare with no connection with ordinary folk. Like sticks to like and LA is the home of middle aged millionares that want to live in a bubble. Thats not slagging Moz, its just a fact, young Moz is ,long gone. Moz is as English as it gets, America has the cabaret version of him.

Re: So.... back to London

Funny how whenever Brits disagree they blame it on American arrogance. As if that in itself isn't arrogant? YOU should be ashamed.

And I still think if you want a real Moz/Smiths night you have to move to L.A. Start packing, join us, come on girl - get your arrogance on!!

Join you ? where ? hanging around in public toilets or hanging around your manky apartment listening to Rufus fu**ing Wainright. Dopey C**t.

Hypernianbilly

Public toilets?? You have me confused with that nasty pastey Brit George Michael. And as for my apartment, well, the guard at the gate wouldn't let trash like you in so no sense in thinking you'd be hanging out here.

And where did George learn that behaviour ? Oh yeah, it happened in L.A. So you have 'guards' outside your apartment, oh it sounds lovely, reminds me of downtown beruit in the summer.

Do you feel better after than ignorant rant? Good! Crawl back into your shell and ... Well I won't go that far yet ...

Ever see the movie "Get Real"?? Set in a charming British town, and OH MY...the gay boy star of the show hangs out around the public toilets. It's the public toilets in your part of the world that live on in infamy. George was thinking of home when that happened in LA. And you see...he got arrested...because that's not the type of behavior we want in our country. There's a place for everything, just keep it out of our public restrooms, ok.

Yes, we have a guard house. It's a beautiful gated community meant to keep out the trashy riff in their rattling cars. Such exclusivity would be foreign to someone from the ghetto such as yourself.

No I haven't seen it, I don't watch that sort of thing. George would have been arrested here too.

Attacking the poor. I rest my case. We all know what sort of person you are now.

Re: Hypernianbilly

Honestly, you know very little.

L.A.??!?!?!?!?!?!

I had the misfortune to visit your barren, ugly, plastic city last year, and I can say, without doubt, it is the most unattractive, boring, bland, fake city I've ever visited. Even Amy, the girl I know there, despises it but is unable to move as she has a great job there.

And the nightlife is utterly chronic. Naff characterless bars with no atmosphere, vast bright bars with zero atmosphere and full of people with abysmal dress sense and the clubs... God, SO behind Britain.... from the DJs (we heard all those records AGES ago in Europe), to the tragic punters.... I even saw kiddies in fridge magnets and...gasp... GLOW STICKS!!!!!!

And the gay scene is just too sad to even mention here..... utterly embarrassing.

Great nightlife? Come to Europe..... Berlin, Amsterdam, London. That's all you need to know.

If the club scene is your life....

...you must be an awfully boring person.

nice try...no cigar

...but my whole point is that there IS nothing else to mention about LA.

The architecture is all FAKE - there is NOTHING original there.... it's influenced by Spanish / Mexican villas, but it's so chronically dull and boring, all so HORRIBLY new, bland and characterless.... low level houses and shops (oh, and the shops are atrocious... chain store rubbish, no curio shops, very little decent designer stuff).
There are NO museums, places of historical interest, art galleries (that I found, anyway), decent restaurants.....

I love parts of America, but LA is possibly the vilest place I've ever visited.... I have never been so glad to leave a place and I could NEVER live there. In fact, I pity anyone that does.

Keep the one redeeming feature - the sunshine. Give me culture, history and beauty anyday.

> ...you must be an awfully boring person.

You just weren't looking in the right places...

Give me new housing over crusty old roach infested architecture anyday. Most of your housing should be condemned. L.A. is still a baby...growing and developing. It's a modern city, unlike grandaddy London who can't really go anywhere else other than where she is....stuck in the past.
