Thread: concerning reissues

    Default concerning reissues

i've found a couple records that i can't find any release info on. i was hoping someone here could fill me in. i've checked passions and any info i could find on rough trade. they seem like official copies. though, i'm not sure.

    - the smiths "s/t" lp on pink vinyl. it looks very much like the original i have, but the spine is light blue. it is labeled as Rough Trade Records. Rough 61.

    - "meat is murder" lp white vinyl. slightly translucent white. it's labeled as a rough trade release. Rough 81C. TM/RT 81.

    - "meat is murder" picture disc lp. labeled as Rough 81-P.

    - "The queen is dead" picture disc lp. labeled as Rough 96-P.

    - "strangeways here we come" picture disc lp. labeled as Rough 106P.

i would definitely apprecite the help.
also, are these releases available for all the albums? the colored vinyl and the picture disc?

    thanks

they are all bootlegs, albeit quite nice ones. not sure who's producing them but there's a lot about at the moment. hope that helps.

ok, i'm sorry. i just found an earlier thread about the picture discs. but it seems no one figured out much about them.

still puzzled about the colored vinyl releases (well, and the picture discs as well)....

and the picture discs have a barcode sticker with the "rough trade" catalog number..

    thanks for any help

What's puzzling? They're counterfeits. End of story.

hey beau, you live in SF, right? Because I saw lots of Meat Is Murder LPs at Amoeba and they look fake to me. Much lower quality than what I have here.

Picture is faded and low quality, cover is flimsy, different shade of green.

What on earth would be the point of bootlegging an LP that sells for $10 on eBay?

Love Morrissey, but hate most Morrissey fans? Then this is the FB group for you.

That's exactly what I thought. It was either a bootleg or a really really poor quality release that I have never seen before.

though they're obviously counterfeits, I purchased a white vinyl copy of Meat is Murder. There's type on the spine - The Smith3. The work on them is pretty shitty. Portuguese catalog number TM/RT 81 with a "Made in England" sticker on the back. The sound on it is pretty good though. I bought it just to play that one, and not my actual legit copies.

    Motorways,

They are all mentioned on "Passions Just Like Mine". Just read the 'additional information' sections of each of the relevent discographical entries.

They are all indeed recent counterfeits.
