One thing many people over here (in USA) forgot is that for the Smiths in the early days, it took a HELL of a lot of bollocks to do what Morrissey did. Coming on stage with flowers in his pockets and talking of senstive matters. Not to mention the hearing aid. In the UK at the time (I was there as a very young teen) the skinheads and punks hated him. I had to be a closet fan for quite some time while donning "I'm really really 'ard" gear.I love the way he looked Early Smiths. Just really fresh faced and innocent

Yes, but what I dont get is why people would of thought he was soft and that. Some of his fans now are really scary and tough lol. You would be forgiven for mistaking a Moz concert now for a punk rock concert back then.
