Thread: The ignore function

  1. #1

    Default The ignore function

I've a couple of questions, as I'm thinking of trying this function out.

What is your experience of using this function?

Would you like me to add your name to the people that I plan to add to my ignore list?

Go ahead & add me. It'll probably make your time here a lot more productive. I wish I could add myself.

I had a pretty lengthy ignore list for several months; it even included a moderator (guess who?). But I found that I usually wound up clicking on many ignored users' "Show post" links anyway, or saw their posts quoted in replies, so I eventually gave in and removed everyone. Even the moderator.

Buddy lists, on the other hand, I find indispensable. I always keep the buddy list open in a separate window (click Quick Links => Show Buddy List) to track the important users' comings and goings.

The same happened here. First I added Mozzy1 cause her posts were so depressing. But I ended up seeing her posts anyway when others quoted her. So, all in all, it's pretty pointless.
And I heard so many things I failed to understand at all

I wonder why there's a user option to receive PMs only from mods and members on your buddy list. I'd rather see an option to block PMs from ignored users, which would make the ignore feature much more useful.

One time I put Buzzy on ignore because he had a youtube video in his post that was preventing the rest of the thread from loading. After I read it I took him off. Forgive me, Buzzy, I was on dial-up.

Other than that I put some trolls on it.

Isn't fortbethel on everybody's ignore list? Isn't that why it exists?

Really? I've ever only reported some spammers who come here late at night (US time) and post shit about cheap software. I can think of at least 6 users that I should report right now, though, but that's more because they're just fucking irritating than because they're obvious trolls.

Lolz! "Fucking irritating" could be a condition of being banned...

Do you think M23 has put on ignore all of us who posted on this thread?

I doubt it. But who knows? If I'm going to be banned, I'd rather that it be for something a bit harder-hitting.

    Wouldn't be a bad idea.

Don't worry; they'll put you on "ignore" in a few years.

NRiTH, I'm glad you quoted what M23 said to start off this thread, ...otherwise, I wouldn't even have been able to see it.
Oh yeah...to answer your question...um..nope, I don't use the ignore function. Yeah, that's it!

I'm familiar with the sources, but I want to know where you're getting all these Shoop Da Whoop mouth-ray animated gifs from. They're fab.

Thank you, but why would I give away my secrets? (I don't even know the source of Shoop da Woop; it just appeared one day on Fark.)
