Strange/unexpected Moz references?

I just heard a radio ad for the new album on Talksport. It plays a little bit of 'World peace' and 'Istanbul'. It's weird because before the voice over guy comes in all you hear is the droning sound at the beginning of 'World peace' and I recognised it straight away. I wasn't expecting to hear it advertised on a station like Talksport.

We might see an ad on TV tonight on Channel 4 during "Titanic" transmission.

Moz mention on the Archers

Is his guest appearance still happening? Yesterday - Sunday - creepy policeman PC Burns said he used to play in a Smiths tribute band, he was the singer, quote "the Mozfather himself".

Re: Moz mention on the Archers

On tonight's edition of I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, Harry Hill sang This Charming Man in the Pick-Up-Song round.

Strange & Unexpected - Did Morrissey ever meet Madonna ?

Other amusing anecdotes emerged throughout the performance. Peters recalled playing “Where Were You Hiding When the Storm Broke?” on the band’s first appearance on famed UK show Top of the Pops. The Alarm appeared on the program with the mind-bending lineup of The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen and Madonna!

"Supporting us was the girl who worked on the coat-checking thing," he says. "We really didn't pay too much attention to her, but it was Madonna. She played for about 20 minutes before we went on." - Johnny Marr

Kiss Me A Lot is on BBC 6 Music right now! :)

The mix is slightly different from album version.

Financial Times writer James Mackintosh used a rather forced Smiths analogy in the opening paragraph of an article about the Federal reserve:

Markets not ready for hawkish surprise from the Fed
By James Mackintosh

Breakthrough Mancunian indie band The Smiths broke up in part because lead singer Morrissey insisted on covering Cilla Black’s “Work is a Four Letter Word”. And similar oaths will surely fly in dealing rooms if growing signs of US labour market tightness prompt a change of course from the Federal Reserve.

yeah its pretty awesome. the use of the pen line around his nose recalls old illustration but it fills in with the cg stuff really well. nice mix of old school style with new school cg.

The only part of note is André Carrilho's illustration.

He first 'did' Moz back in 2003 ~

~ which is a beautiful piece of work, still. I managed to contact Mr. Carrilho at that time to commend him on his work. I almost bought a limited signed print too, but I was skint at the time.

He did him again for 'Word' magazine later ~
