    Default Promo Posters

I am slowly selling of all my mozz and smiths items on fleabay and just concentrating on smiths promo posters at the moment. If anyone has any that they are willing to sell then drop me a line. I will pay top wack for them if they are in mint condition. I have Panic, Strangeways and sheila. Maybe we could trade?
    Thanks

Have you noticed how the price of these posters has just gone silly over the last few months?

I started collecting the posters about a year ago when you could pick them up for £20 - £30 each. But in the last few months I've seen them go for silly money - a tatty copy of Heaven Knows... went for £130 on ebay a few months back and a few others have gone for £80 or £90 in the last week or so - Shoplifters for £87 last week.

Obviously the ones without a crease are worth more than those that were folded inside record covers but many of the ones posted on ebay have been hung on student bedrooms and have pin holes or bluetak marks on them.

There was also a slight difference between single and album posters - singles being rarer and more expensive - but even this doesn't seem to affect the price much at the moment.

It is rare for them to go on ebay for less than £40 at the moment - even if they are ripped, folded and marked. Do the maths - how many singles and albums? That's an expensie collection. Then you have to frame them

I did think in December that there may be an Xmas factor involved - partners buying them as Xmas presents - but the prices keep rising.

Best of luck with your and I hope you have deep pockets...If you are interested I have a spare copy of Sandy Shaw Hand in Glove that I could sell to you for the price I paid for it - I could send a picture if you want.

You mention that you have Panic - did you know there are two versions? One that uses the picture from the single cover, the other that has the lyrics written in Morrissey's handwriting.

I think it's time for beau to break out that pic of all the posters framed on his wall. (That was beau's pic, wasn't it?)

Oh, and Morrathee, I commend you on your awethome username!

I only need half a dozen posters and I have the full collection. I managed to get my hands on three of the first album posters all in mint condition. I thought if i sold the 2 spares it would pay for my third one.

Dec 06 I sold on on ebay for £196, then six months later I only got £51 for the other one.

Saying I only paid £25 each for the posters, I more than covered the price.

I have 5 framed within the house, you looking at £30 for a standard black frame. Wish I could get them all done, but my wife has said No!!!!

Unfortunately Beau's is now missing but GrlMopz (?) has some beautiful pics - it was hers being featured in an NME article that made me start collecting.

    So far I have
Hand in Glove (my favourite, because I've seen photos of the band in a dressing room with the poster on the wall!)
I've got 2 copies of the Sandie Shaw Hand in Glove
    Heaven Knows I'm Miserable
Panic - both the sleeve and lyric ones
    Sheila Take a bow
    I started something
    Girlfriend in a coma
    Last night I dreamt
    Ask
    Shoplifters

    Also
    The Smiths
    World wont Listen
    Strangeways here we come
Louder than Bombs (I bought it off an american on ebay who has lots for sale - I now suspect he is printing them himself)

So if anyone has any of those that I'm missing and is interested in selling....let me know.

I've not framed any yet but they are all stored in a A2 sized Display book (giant poly pockets) just the right size

Sheridan, where do you get frames from that are the right size? I've been looking at £50 each to get them done properly at a local gallery - hence why they are in a display book at the mo.

I've got to get this off my chest - but yesterday a "What Difference Does It Make" promo poster went on ebay for £106. Jesus!

The seller described it as " HAS A HEAVY FOLD IN THE MIDDLE, PIN HOLES ON THE CORNER AND A BIT OF SELLOTAPE ON ONE EDGE. USEFUL AS AN INTERIM POSTER UNTIL YOU COME ACROSS ANOTHER ONE UP FOR SALE."

£106 for an interim poster - The world has gone mad. This places it in Record Collector's top 20 Smiths rarities.

Dave, Just get them done at a framing shop in Newcastle. I choose the frame (normally from cat A price band) and they do the rest. Ok for a 12x24.
