    Default folk music

as i get older i feel myself turn to folk music , i dont know why but it just seems like a nice alternative to me

there are loads of young people making nice music in scotland right now and i find it kind of inspiring

is anyone else of the same opinion ?

My parents brought me up on Irish folk music, so I've always had a bit of a fondness for it. (Being dragged to those sorts of gigs for years does that to you! )My friend Frank does very good English folk(ish) punk music, kind of Billy Braggish, very good. Very funny. Hubby and I like him quite a lot

This is a great album, and there is another beautiful track on there called 'Waverley Steps'. I played it to death a couple of years ago on holiday in Mull and Iona.

I listen to a lot of folk, mainly Irish and Scottish stuff as English folk can be a bit hey, nonny, nonny, if you know what I mean. I find it strangely comforting as it's more spiritual I suppose than a lot of music.

So yes, everything from Fairport Convention, early Bob Dylan, Eliza Carthy, Kate Rusby, Christy Moore, The Waterboys. Great stuff!!
