Sweet Lord, that man's a cock...
Anthony and Cleopatra...Rhett Butler and Scarlett O' Hara...Morrissey and Moz'art girl:legendary love stories!!"
Looks like the local Labour activists prevented 'Dave' from having his picture taken outside

humm... why was he prevented from taking a pic outside the SLC? isn't it a public place?![]()
Well he wasn't 'prevented' as such, just that he would have ended up with a picture with Labour Loonies in the background taking the piss.
Yes it was good he went, but the idiot should have gone there 'on the quiet' and shouted about it later rather than issueing press releases telling the world what he was doing in advance!

I'm sure Hazel Blears, MP for Salford is a Smiths fan ...
You can have it all, my empire of dirt ...

'A photo' was taken and his photo will now go up in The Smiths room at the SLC.
If you have a photo of yourself outside the club and would like it in The Smiths room too, send it to info@salfordladsclub.org.uk or: Salford Lads Club, St Ignatius Walk, Salford, Lancashire, M5 3RX
Now. What support is our PM showing? We should ask. Ask him yourself or invite him to have his photo taken outside the club.
Should we set up a petition?
Serious request/suggestion. Contact Gordon Brown here: http://www.number10.gov.uk/output/Page3.asp
Bands such as the Jam and the Smiths were at the forefront of the resistance to Thatcherism in the 1980s. Twenty years later, Tory leader David Cameron lists them as among his favourite acts. Is nothing sacred?

So John Harris thinks the Tories have stolen "our" music? By this, he means that Conservative party leader David Cameron has professed a fondness for the Smiths, the Jam and other "indie" guitar bands from the 1980s that we'd usually think of as being on the leftie side of the political spectrum. He could have added that Matthew d'Ancona, editor of the conservative weekly political magazine the Spectator, has recently taken to professing his love for Joy Division in print. Sacrilege!
The debate continues:

Hugh, please honestly tell me you don't believe that if someone happens to have right wing leanings they are not allowed to enjoy the music of artists such as The Smiths, The Jam, Billy Bragg, Joy Division et cetera?

I don't put people into boxes. I'd have thought you'd have known me better than to think I may have such small minded views.
Music is for everyone. This music is your music, this music is my music, as Woody Guthrie may have said.
I posted these links are they are news items that are Morrissey related. (Also, any publicity for The Salford Lads Club is always worthwhile).
Personally I think both articles are a pile of pish, which only highlight the ignornace of the writers.
Good. I am glad we agree on this particular issue and I apologise for appearing to jump to conclusions.
I see it as an issue that is something of an anomalie when it comes to the world of Morrissey because very little else on here winds me up other than when some web warrior behind a keyboard tries to claim something is more theirs than mine because of a view held by either me or them (namely vegetarianism and/or Conservatism et cetera)
