Default Fairmount, IN trip in Feb.

I'm (hopefully) going to be able to go to Fairmount, IN February 9 (20 years after the Suedehead video) to just have a look around and see some Moz and James Dean things. Has anyone else ever been? Are there certain things that I should not miss while I'm there?

I've been twice. If you're remotely interested in James Dean, then the Fairmount historical museum is unmissable. It has hundreds of personal possessions, photos, autographs, etc. There's obvious other things like his grave, his old house in which his uncle still lives and the memoriam is also in the cemetery (although vandalised.)

I have some photos somewhere of graffiti that Morrissey wrote in the old Fairmount high school at the time of the Suedehead video shoot. I'll try and find them and post again.

Fairmount is a very friendly place, so go and ask the locals any questions you may have, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, cool... I went there in 1989. It was summertime, I was living in Indy and I made my dad drive me up there.

20 years? Yikes... before singing Suedehead in Indy... he said something funny about it being 30... no, 20... years ago. I think it's in the post show on the main page. May 20, wasn't it?

    20 years... crap.

    Thanks for the good ideas!

    Oh, Suparni, hahaha

I really really want to go. I just hope the weather is ok and that my friends won't bitch too much for me making them come with me.

I had too look it up and it I believe was February 5, 6, and 7 (3 days of shooting) when the video was shot. Those are all weekdays (damn work), so I'll be going for the 9th.

I'm clear of work for those days! Looks like I will get to go finally.

Yeah, if anyone is interested besides me.

I'm desperately hoping to still go. I am aiming to leave here early Saturday (the day after my friend turns 21 at midnight), go to Bloomington to pick up my friends, and then go. That's about 3 1/2 hours of driving.

    Who cares, I'm doing it!
I got a nice old copy of "You Can't Go Home Again" by Thomas Wolfe that I don't have time to read before Saturday. I really wish I had time to read it. Oh well, I'll get a picture with it while I'm there.

I have to be at work at 10 a.m. Sunday, so I have to go home that night, but I'm in for this.

Perhaps I shall see you there! I am dragging the little Troubles with me! They are the only ones I can coerce into going.
