Oh why don't you PM tormented! he booked a room in london and is looking for some people to share - he said he will share by the night...
here is the thread...
http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/sho...t=80382&page=5
I was thinking to go to lille - means fly into paris and then train to lille for the show - then train to london and then fly back to NY from there... but it will end up being about 300 dollars extra for the show in lille with 2 trains (paris/lille/london), hotel (no late night trains from lille to london), and slight increase in airfare (50 dollars more ny/paris - london/ny) and I think after spending 202 GBP on tickets and another $580 airfare then the high london prices... well I am starting to think that my Morrissey budget for that week is all used up.
Good luck with tormented - seems like a nice guy... and the hotel he booked is very close to the venue and cheap...

yeah, i saw that thread, and i will ask him if we can share the room!!!
If you're plannig to come to lille, why not try a fly NY to london and then a eurostar return ticket (70 euros)from london to lille...
you can find cheap hotels near the aeronef (lille flandres train station)

yes, I also thought about that...
do you know what part of the city the eurostar comes into? And do you know of any cheap hotel near the train station?
Do you know how far it is from that station to the venue in lille? and how does one get there? close enough to walk? or is there a taxi system that is not too expensive? Walking would be best as I love walking around in france.
maybe you are right. maybe I should go to lille.... hmm.....

you know - one thing that sucks from this end is that the dollar is so weak right now... 70 euros is about 110 bucks... so all these euros and pounds add up and hit those of us who work for dollars pretty hard... :/

hehe...
yes viva euros! I am looking for a project that pays in GBP. I have European and US citizenship... I would love to work for Euros or pounds... but there is something about New York that I just can't seem to leave! I do love this crazy, gritty, wild, speeding daydream of a town... i really do. I am going to look for a hotel and figure it all out on paper and decide tonight.
And yes, I was half joking when I said I my family and friends would think I am crazy - because they already KNOW I am crazy so it really doesn't matter does it?
But it really is important to me that I do not overspend and end up not being able to even go to starbucks or buy my multivitamins when I get back.

no no no i am going to refrain and not do this. i figure I should save the money and use it to change the date on my ticket ny-paris-india in feb - so that the paris layover is for the same day as the olympia show.
i think that would be a better use of the money considering I will be at 6 shows in london. yes. this is what i should do.

How much does it cost to fly from the usa to england? I have been spending tons of money on smiths records....I probably could have financed a trip there.
You're nothing to me! I'm everything to myself!
Well Vegan Soldier, I don't know how much a ticket is from the depths of hell, but it seems that virgin atlantic has the best deals from NY and LA.
I am looking at $517 RT from New York.
Maybe I find something better - but it looks like this is the best price around. My travel agent comes into the office on Monday, I will let you know if I see anything better.

Hope you're sleeping well and having wonderful dreams about Morrissey!
Thank you for your kind help and this thread! I may or may not end up in Lille even though I have already purchased a ticket. It all depends upon whether I can slip away from work at a crucial time.
Wish I could help you with London accomodation, but if I do go to the London shows, I will be staying with a friend who lives there. All I know is that decent hotels & hostels are very dear in London.![]()
I'm staying at the Première Classe Hotel in Lille Centre, only EUR 48,- per room/per night and only 500 metres/yards from the venue.

Yes, I have another question: what is a nice place to have breakfast/brunch the morning after the show. As I mentioned above, I'm staying at the Première Classe on Place des Reignaux and you probably only get one of these prefab-breakfasts there (if any). But as my friend and I are treating this as a weekend-city-trip to Lille we might want to have breakfast in some nice little restaurant overlooking the Grand Place or something.![]()
What about the taxis in Lille? I'm staying at Citotel Nordotel
(rue du faubourg d'arras), but allegedly it's not the safest area..? Do the taxis run late, are they expensive?
