One of the quintessential Smiths tunes. 10!!

I crashed down on the crossbar and the pain was enough to make a shy, bald, buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder... Brilliant stuff

The thing that makes me sad is that we'll never hear it properly with all the Smiths playing.
The video is the best made for a Smiths song.

Excellent, propulsive music by Monsieur Marr and funny, self-mocking lyrics by Moz make this one of the best songs from Strangeways. Morrissey's voice, fine-tuned from touring, is in amazing form and the words always make me smile. It was tragic when the song was prevented from being released as a single in England due to the ridiculous presumed association of the "mass murder" line with Michael Ryan's Hungerford massacre. "I Started Something..." was released in its place and pales in comparison.

    Simply a great song - well-deserving of a 10.

A bit like Still Ill. If you don't vote this a 10, you don't really deserve to be a Moz fan & should leave the board forthwith.

Never really liked this one apart from the opening drum intro and the segueing from Girlfriend In A Coma". It's not a bad song but I can't find it neither catchy nor witty, nothing outstanding. If I just saw the lyrics and didn't knew which song it were from I would never have guess that it was a The Smiths' tune.

Do you want to lynch me now? But well people have given "Late Night, Maudlin Street", "Reel Around The Fountain" and "Now My Heart Is Full" seven's so I guess there's sins worse then mine.
    What would Birgit Friggebo do?

    Haha, don't worry you didn't vote 3 or 2.

I don't like having dilemma about how to rate each song, so I decided not take part in.

Yupp it's hard, especially when you really don't like it but know that it's certainly not a mediocre song. But then, someone must see to it that doesn't get 9.89 or something like that.

MTV used to hammer this video back in the day. I think it was Stop Me that got me interested in The Smiths in the first place, though I did not buy Strangeways until 1990.

    Where, where?
Find me these people so that I may chop off their heads!
"I think both me and Morrissey are about as proud as anyone can be about those records. I'm proud of everything the band did, and I'm proud of the relationship, and I'm proud of the friendship. I don't have any feud going on. I support what Andy's doing, and I don't know what Morrissey's doing but I'm behind it." - Johnny Marr, 2013.

One of their faster paced songs. It appeals to the masses as well as the fans. Simply a great song. I have played it many a time while driving as non fans will ask me who is this? I tell them... they nod with an impressed "hmm..."(as in this is actually pretty good.)

For that alone it is a ten.
