Thread: Babyshambles new single

    Default Babyshambles new single

Delivery, ripped from it's premier on Zane Lowe's radio show. Well produced by Stephen Street and sounds strong, owes an awful lot to The Kinks.

Thanks a lot for that! I am willng to say that not ONE Babyshambles song has ever made it to American TV or radio. Could be wrong, but knowing US tastes in popular music...
This site is a complete piece of crap. Why do I keep coming back? I'm related to GG Allin - I make shit, I see shit, I eat shit.

Yes, I think it has progressed quite well from the S - T Bumfest Demo's under Street's stewardship which is in contrast to the past when on numerous occasions Mick Jones and his production had detrimental effects.

I’m really hoping for a definitive version of Unbilotitled, it has been a favourite of mine for a long time.

Delivery is quite obviously strongly influenced by All Day and All of the Night:

Yeah, you're absolutely right, I was really glad to see it was Street producing the new one.

I'm looking forward to that one as well, also 'Carry on up the Morning' and 'Crumb begging'. 'carry on up...' was probably my favourite in demo form and it'll be interesting to see if that changes on the album.

You may have seen this as it has done the rounds, Allen Jones from Uncut magazine recieved a copy of the album and wrote a track by track review.

" CARRY ON UP THE MORNING
Opens with a squall of splintery guitar that slyly hints at the scratchy, desiccated sound of Down In Albion, before what becomes this album’s signature sound takes over – guitars as bright as searchlights, really big tumbling drums, punchy up-front bass, a busy vocal mix and a huge chorus. The lyric is wry going on paranoid, anticipating the album’s recurring themes of loyalty, trust, betrayal, weary explanation, self-recrimination. “I know you used to be into me/Now you’ve got it in for me,” Pete sings, flirting with self-pity."

    Sounds of interest.

Yeah I saw that, he was the first guy to make the tracklist public aswell wasn't he?

This definitely seems like it will be a much more tight album than DIA, with less filler, though saying that i'll bet Doherty will sneak in a couple of Reggae songs at the last minute

haha hopefully not, The General and Purple seem to have dissapeared. Yes a lot less filler than the last, origanlly they were discussing it being ten tracks but it seems they had a lot of material to chose from.

After listening to the S + J demos again, It's actually a real pity they didn't decide to include New Love Grows on Trees, it would certainly be interesting, the demo version is phenomenal, particularly Pete's voice.

I have heard that Pete is saving that and others for his solo album. I agree it is great, acousticlullaby is my favourite version.
