How funny. My friend and I were just discussing the Cramps! I regret not having heard them play live and my friend, who has seen them *many* times was rubbing it in. They just played that Joey Ramone tribute at the Hammerstein, so there's still hope that they'll reunite Ramones-style for another "last tour ever".

On a somewhat related note, I came across a Morrissey mention in the Feb. 2001 issue of Uncut last week. (I'm behind on my magazines!) I was reading an article on the legendary Slits and came across a vignette describing a punk party the author attended with the Slits in an upstairs room of a pub in Chorlton, Manchester twenty-three years ago. "We appeared to be in a real time real life film about the bloody birth of punk rock where everything was moving really fast and then stopping quick and then going in and out of focus," wrote Paul Morley. "...Someone over there fell over. I think it was Morrissey. He had a look on his face that suggested he was in a room with the New York Dolls' sisters..."

It seems plausible that he'd be there, and even if the author is mistaken, it's Morrissey's punk cred that places him at that party in that music writer's mind. Pretty cool. (Good article overall, btw.)

    Default The cramps LIVE

    They are great live!

I saw them in London in 1998 and they tore the place to bits.

It was one of the best gigs i have ever been to in my life.
