No matter how its booked, I'm going to go over. Because I Say So.
We didn't twist anything, we just read what you'd written, especially the "holier than thou" cliche when all we've done is tell you that if there's a queue to get in then you can't make the people stood in it stand and watch you feed your addiction before going back inside the buildng because, in the eyes of the people in the queue, you would be the sneering wanker.

So because you've got a nicotine addiction and get drunk then that makes me a sneering wanker?
Priceless.
I won't let the prostitutes in the pub to crank up or light a crack pipe. Goodness knows what they think of me.

Oh man, call us old fashioned, but we blamed Lillibett because Lillibett did it and Lillibett admitted to doing it and then denied it, along with you we might add, earlier in this thread before you had a road-to-Damascus revelation and are now not only admitting it happened, but admitting who did it!
It's done now, it's over, it got cleaned off the wall. It got brought up earlier in the thread because someone decided to stick their oar in and not only say we were being mean to you both specifically (like you're the only people who smoke fags) and then go on to recommend we spend money we haven't got on building a smoking shelter with a f*cking TV in it just to please people who can't manage without a cigarette for the night.
The things you posted which we objected most of all in all of this were the name calling, the comment about "it'll give them something to do" and your constant CONSTANT moaning about your sodding nicotine addiction as if it's everybodys responsibility but your own.
If you can't face going out without having a cig every time you buy a drink then just don't go out. Just stop expecting us and the hypothetical queue of people to understand the torment you'll have to go through when you have to go without.

Fucking hell, that took some reading. I see my name got mentioned again in terms of condoms and prostitutes, it is obvious what you people REALLY think of me.
Will be good to see you Peter if me and my mate can get in later on, we are off to see Rick Witter and The Dukes at Academy Three. You will have a ball if it's your first time, unfortunately you won't get to see the dancer in action![]()
What fucking joke of a thread.
Always good to see the mighty S&G defeat all comers with three simple weapons of logic, common sense, and not being completely stupid though.
Good to see you lot bum 'S&G' no matter what, you can always rely on that.
yep game, set and match SnG.
Cant wait for the new improved Smiths Disco... I've had to leave early the last two times cos my friend has asthma and cant handle it in there. All Change in July though. The smoking ban isnt about a nanny state gone mad, it will improve the lives of all us non smokers and dare I say it, all you puffters too.
thank you from the heart of my bottom
I've only been half-reading this thread, but what is the S&G policy on smoking..are you allowed outside for one, or do you expect nicotine addicts to go without all night?
It's surprising how you get used to not being able to smoke in certain places - the bus, the cinema, work etc..but the only thing that keeps you going is knowing that you will be able to have that blessed fag soon after.
The easiest thing would be to stop selling cigarettes. Why don't they do this?
Anyway hope everybody has a grand night at the S&G, enjoy your last night of smoking along to Moz, and think of me sitting in a theatre NOT being able to smoke watching Derren Brown.

P.s. I enjoyed this thread I can hardly wait 'til next month for the next thrilling episode
The cigarette machine will be going back to the company we rent it from sometime this month.
We've never said that we wouldn't let people outside for a cig, we said that if there was a queue then those who went outside for a cigarette would have to join it. They wouldn't be charged to get back in. We already operate that policy now, but people seem to have forgotten about it. The reason behind it is, especially at the Morrissey Smiths Disco, the blind, drunken rage of a few people who aren't prepared to wait to enter the building can and will result in someone who just nips out for a quick cigarette being subjected to a torrent of abuse and probably more (drunk people argue with drunk people, it's in the contract) and the Star&Garter won't put up with any of that on or off the premises.
The fact that certain persons were reduced to petty name calling at just the thought of maybe, possibly, having to join a queue in order to feed a self-inflicted addiction only served to remind us exactly what kind of people inspired Mayall, Meyer and Elton to write The Young Ones.

Wow.
I can't see what the S&G can do for the smokers - the arguments they've given are solid. Maybe the smokers who attend the S&G should stop going and make their own MORRISSEY AND THE SMOKES DISCO. I can see it now - pictures of Morrissey up in some shithole with fags super-imposed into his mouth and stuff on the walls saying MARLBORO IS NOT MURDER.
Although saying that, I have sympathy for this sister steve character - I know very well from my times at university (in Huddersfield ironically) that you can't talk with some smokers about the possibility of them not smoking. I've known some proper nicotine addicts. For some reason logic doesnt work. I WILL be attending this July - because a smoke free S&G will be a far better place and I am hoping to see this virtual scrap infest itself into real-life. Just for some entertainment.
MARLBORO IS NOT MURDER!!! That's fucking ace! Last night was my first time at the S&G. I was a bit suprised that i could get in straight away at 12:30 - from what i've heard here, i thought there was a massive queue allthe time. Loved it the - its a cool little venue, and i like the way you can dance and sweat upstairs and chill out down. Went with the missus and a few mates who were only casual Moz fans, so i think they were a bit overwhelmed. Need to get some more mates who are deep into Moz to go with next time. It was a good night though!
I was a small fat child from a council house, there was only one one thing i ever dreamed about. fate has now handed it to me..... whoopee!!
Glad you enjoyed it mate, it is an eye opener your first time. I think it was because students are finishing off exams or have buggered off why it was relatively easy to get in last night. Now you can probably realise why the place hasn't got a plasma tele too haha

Really? And here's me thinking their "arguments" amount to the same old patronising, condescending, smug and superior posturing "they" always respond with, if ever anyone dares question "their" policies.
Of course, "they" (and I'll stop using inverted commas now, but just so you know, it's not a "they", it's a "he") are free to do whatever they like, and if people don't like it they can fuck off. That goes without saying, although it is, in fact, what S&G say repeatedly, in their own tiresome and charmless fashion.
Much of what they said, regarding the difficulties of providing "smoking shelters" etc. is fair enough, even though no-one was asking them to anyway. That was all designed to muddy the waters, so that the real issue would be obscured. The real issue being their insistence that anyone nipping out for a cigarette would be forced to join any queue that happens to be outside, and wait for up to an hour to be re-admitted.
The reason given for this being that a drunk and unreasonable person in the queue might not like it if a smoker, who had already paid to get in, was allowed to go straight back in after their cigarette.
That is their argument in it's entirety, and this from those who revel in announcing every month how their word is law, and that their authority can not be challenged!
Just read their first post in every thread advertising the Morrissey/Smiths disco at the S&G, and you'll see that in every other instance, people are told, in the usual curt fashion we've come to expect, not to bother complaining about anything, yet we're expected to accept that the word of a drunk waiting to get in is enough to decide policy regarding something as contentious as the matter being discussed here?
They/He/Them/It are always careful to claim the moral high ground, using their patronising tone to such mind numbing effect, until people can no longer bear their smug attitude, and finally, out of sheer exasperation, fall into the trap of making an "insulting" remark, which is then seized upon as some kind of vindication by S&G for all their subsequent sanctimonious twaddle.
And as for your second "point", a new Morrissey/Smiths Disco has been started in Manchester, which doesn't treat smokers like criminals or second-class citizens, and, indeed, treats everyone with the courtesy and civility all of us should demand.
S&G are in danger of alienating the very people who have helped make the Smiths/Morrissey night a success. Their complacency, and lack of respect for their patrons, has already led to regulars boycotting their event, and, unless their attitude changes for the better, I predict even more dissatisfied customers in the forthcoming months, particularly now that their Morrissey/Smiths night monopoly has been broken, and there is a much more rewarding experience to be had at 'Maladjusted' on the third thursday of each month (next one June 21st).
