Default The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 43: FOUND FOUND FOUND

While we wait for the new album to arrive, let us go about rating the songs we know, on a daily basis, and compile our own Morrissey/Smiths Top 100.

Quite an average song I'm afraid. I think "Uncle" gets a much harder time than it deserves but this isnt one of the stronger songs on the album

I loved it and still do. I gave a 10 because it was my favorite song on the record at times. I know I'm not with the majority and it might not be easy to convince anyone it's a great song but I love it.

this one will probably get low votes,
    and I don't understand why, it's a great albumtrack

    This song aint's so bad. I gave it a 6. It's listenable.
A lot better than some of the rubbish on recent albums (e.g. How Can Anybody, On the Streets etc). The fact that it was rumoured to be about a friendship with Michael Stipe adds to the intrigue.
I remember an interview around the time where Moz said the great thing about their friendship was that they don't talk about REM or 'whatever it is that I do'; brilliant!

The only truly awful song on Kill Uncle is Harsh Truth of the Camera...

I don't understand why either. I like it also.

It's short and based on a sort of simple guitar part which is sort of similar type style as How Soon Is Now, and the lyrics are not as elaborate and detailed as usual, so it gets overlooked, but I used to rewind my cassette to hear it over. Remember rewinding tapes on a walkman really wears the batteries out fast so you only rewound or fast forwarded for a good reason.

Nothing wrong with the song being economical though. I think it makes the point and sounds so great.

I LOVE them songs! Hardly rubbish in my opinion.

I voted 5 by the way. Can't say I hate the song but I don't go out of my way to listen to it. All other Morrissey songs I can go "ohh I need put that on" according to the mood I'm in but this one not so. When it does get played, however, I enjoy it more than I realised.

Couldn't disagree with you more. I think "Uncle" deserves the hard time it got/gets and that this is one of the stronger tracks.

    I gave it 6.

This was my fave track on Kill Uncle for a long time. I still love it, I think it gives the album a lil bit of a rock edge. Which is nice, coz most of the album is so acoustic/percussion.
