I think this might need a new entry in Passions....

WEA TOP HITS November 1992 Issue. Japanese Rare Promo-only 16-track CD. Featuring The Boy With The Thorn in His Side.

It says on the track listing that the track is taken from WMC5-541 which is the Japanese edition of Best II

Here is what Passions says about Best I
    Japan:
A various artists promo cd titled "WEA Top Hits" featuring "This Charming Man" was dispatched to radio in order to promote this release as well as recent releases by other artists'.

Presumably this CD belongs in the entry for Best II.

    Jools Holland: "Knock Knock!"
    Morrissey: "I'm not in!"
    Jools: "Oh, come on."
Morrissey: "I refuse to open the door."

Cool WEA cd by the way. I saw one, a few years back @ Amoeba. I went to look @ something else, came back to get it(as I was about to leave), and it was gone. Ironically, the guy right in front of me had it in his hand.......

Anyone can tell me more about this? I'm surprised it's still sealed. Is it from 03 or 04? Publishing CD-R I reckon.

Mikael, I think you can unseal it to find out. I'd be very surprised this was sealed at the source. It was probably sealed by the person who sold it to you, or some other inbetweener.

Yes it does look like a publishing rights cd.

Smiths début white label promo with a truly disappointing single sided promo sheet

    Maladjusted re-issue promo CD

...and I bought a copy of 'Film and Filming' hoping to find the original photo for "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" but bought the wrong edition - D'oh! - but still, I suspect Moz used to subscribe to this magazine, articles/photos on Delon, Visconti, Taste of Honey and Billie Whitelaw - for a nostalgic Smiths obsessive with some time on their hands it's well worth buying a copy I've since ordered the right edition...

    Hi Raphael,

It has the same 24 tracks but across 2 discs, 12 tracks on each disc.
It comes in a 'fat' double cd jewel case.
Number 34 in the top 100 Smiths collectibles according to RC.

    Cheers,

    I.R.

I was tingling with excitement when the post arrived yesterday...I posted this info last night but by this morning was gone... so here's another attempt... Films and Filming from Feb 1965

It is the original source for the sleeve of That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore... so flicking through to the middle pages... wow... even if slightly disappointed to find a rusty staple in the middle of the image

    Happy bunny.

But wait, what's that, bloody hell, it's the alternate shot for The Queen Is Dead cover - Alain Delon on Page 15.

I might be jumping to conclusions, but either Morrissey had a subscription to Films and Filming in 1965 or someone at Rough Trade had some old magazines lying around that Morrissey saw and was inspired...

And only £3.99 - it is one of the most exciting Smiths / Morrissey items I've bought in a long time.
