This concert didn't go down very well. The Smiths were warmly welcomed by most of the audience, but a few troublemakers almost had the concert cut short. It all started as early as the first song. Set opener "Hand In Glove" was always performed with an extended instrumental intro on this tour, but on this date, it was extended more than usual because Morrissey was probably doused with beer or something of that nature, and kept away from the microphone. He managed to finally take the microphone and perform his vocal duties, but after the opening number he warned "Look good friends, you got a very strange way of welcoming people... If anybody throws beer or spits or cans, we will leave, so you have a choice..."

It didn't take very long for the Smiths to prove that their threats were serious. As "This Charming Man" was started, something happened and Morrissey left stage, leaving the band to perform the song as an instrumental. Someone then came on stage and warned the audience that the Smiths would not return unless the troublemakers 'cut it out'. Returning to the stage, Morrissey added: "Remember the world is watching you Dundee... do you really care?" before attempting "This Charming Man" again, this time with vocals and without a hitch.

After this everything went well but Morrissey didn't say much. The gist of his banter for the rest of the evening consisted of taking a jab at the audience by introducing "Barbarism Begins At Home" as "...something that you obviously already know" and shouting "What!?" before "What Difference Does It Make?" and "You've Got Everything Now". Despite all the trouble Morrissey warmly thanked the audience before leaving stage before the encore break and at the very end.
