"Morrissey's Manchester" is by Phill Gatenby...
"I think both me and Morrissey are about as proud as anyone can be about those records. I'm proud of everything the band did, and I'm proud of the relationship, and I'm proud of the friendship. I don't have any feud going on. I support what Andy's doing, and I don't know what Morrissey's doing but I'm behind it." - Johnny Marr, 2013.

    Morrissey's Manchester..
was written by a lovely chap called Phill GATENBY (not to be confused with Kevin Cummins), and it is DEFINITELY worth buying. It ranks among my top 3 books on Morrissey/The Smiths. It's absolutely indispensable when you visit Manchester and want to go on the Smiths/Moz trail (it comes with a very handy detailed map of Manchester City Centre). Lots of great background information, too.....and very charmingly written. A must have, anyway - even if you're not planning to visit Manchester in the near future - this book will make you want to see the important spots.

For any further information on this book let me refer you to Jukebox Jury.

Other good reads are "Morrissey and Marr: The Severed Alliance" by Johnny Rogan (yes, I like it) and "Songs That Saved Your Life" by Simon Goddard.

    Oh..and BTW,

Mr. Gatenby is about to release a new one...

"Panic on the Streets: The "Smiths" Location Guide"
    which covers Morrissey's London...(i think).

Both books can be found on amazon.

Ha! Phill's gonna love that! There is a new book soon, all about Mozzer's London, and, although I say so myself, it's rather splendid.

My lad was distraught today when Bradford City got relegated. Don't know if he'll be renewing his season ticket or not. On the plus side, Leeds are as good as down. The most gripping story of the day was Gretna, who made it in the last minute.

Yes someone told me the other week that Wikipedia had the book down written by Phill Cummins! (where's my solicitor?)

Heavy night last night / this morning, went to 'South' club with Dermo from Northside flipping the tunes. Got in about 3.15am and cracked open another beer and put the jukebox on for a Smiths session (very quietly though as not to wake the neighbours) and just got up 10 mins ago for a bowl of cornflakes.

As for the football..... I saw on the news yesterday Phil Neville on the pitch lining up to shake Sir Fergiescum's hand. Has the man no shame or embarressment to his employees / fans?
And I wont even mention City....

Update of the new book, I should be getting it back from the publishers as a draft copy very soon, for approval of the layout etc. I'm in London tomorrow for a different reason, but hope to go and see them anyway. So looking at June / July release date.
Hope to have a big launch in London and maybe a mini one in Manchester.

As ever, thanks for your kind thoughts on the first book.

Actually Alma, I think my eldest daughter signed your copy on my behalf, a bit like those roadies of the Beatles that used to fake sign all their autographs for fans

Quite the little cottage industry you've got going there....I do admire a bit of enterprise in a man! How many you knocking out then?....I bet that Alan Sugar guy would rip his right arm off for you and Grim!
