    Default maximo park

their first album, didnt appeal to me, but everyone deserves a second chance, and so i brought our earthly pleasures.. and i must say how they have shocked me.. i am in love with nearly all of the tracks!

the first album shits all over the second album.

I love Books from Boxes though (basically because the music IS the Smiths), By the Monument and Our Velocity, the others are just ok.

Thankfully I think (and hope) there is much more to come from this band.

I was going to creat a thread about Maximo but instead i shall bump this thread.

I love Maximo to bits! Certainly the best new band around. Both thier albums are great!. I slighty prefer the first one though.

    If anyone is interested:

“It sounds,” grins Paul Smith, on Maximo Park’s glorious second album, Our Earthly Pleasures, “like Smashing Pumpkins crossed with The Smiths.”

I do like them, but Paul Smith reminds me of a younger version of "Rigsby" from 70's sitcom "Rising Damp".

Thanks, all. I watched that clip and I’m intrigued. I like their sound and the singer is very charismatic. If they’re “a mix of the Pumpkins & the Smiths”, I’m definitely checking them out, esp. their 1st album.

There first album is amazing! The last song "Kiss you better" is increable proberally my fave. "I want you to stay" and "The coast is always changing" are other greats one to look out for on that album. Although the album is great.
