The former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha has told Rolling Stone that he has no intention of being a part of the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins reunion. Iha, who is busy working on a solo album and his indie record label Scratchie Records currently run out of Adam Schlesinger (member of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy) and Iha's recording studio Stratosphere Sound, said he is not planning on joining his former bandmates on their upcoming tour dates. Iha's decision means that the only original members on board for The Smashing Pumpkins reunion will be Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. For the fans, Iha's label currently ha(d)s the following bands under contract: Chainsaw Kittens, Dan Bryk, Eszter Balint, Eugene, Fulflej, Midnight Movies, Mike Ladd, Office, Robbers on High Street, The Blank Theory, The Frogs, The Sights and The Sounds.

These reunions are pathetic and hilarious at the same time. Such a desperate cry for cash. Props to Iha for retaining some dignity.

I doubt Iha will have any more success as a solo artist than Corgan did...

Note to all guitarists:Think FIVE times before deciding to go solo....not everyone can be Clapton...

Less we tremble about other guitarists' Solo careers
Andy Taylor
Dave Navarro
Eddie Van Halen...

just to name a few

I'm sure they both realize their best days are long behind them. Iha was probably a little more careful with his money.
