Anyone else around here crazy about Pulp?

i am slightly obssesed with Pulp lately. I just think that songs like Common people, Remember the first time, Babies......are brilliant stuff. And Jarvis just might be coolest guy alive.

I'm just starting to get into them! I love what I've heard so far!

If you have a Livejournal, keep an eye on the pulpfilesharers community for interesting/unusual Pulp and Jarvis downloads.

Got into Pulp around the time of His n Hers. Exactly that time, actually. I have a great double CD called Countdown that has all the really old stuff on it. Brill.

I do like Pulp, especially 'His N Hers'.

Saw Jarvis play on Tuesday night, skinny as ever and fantastic dancer on stage. He was wearing brown pants and a checked shirt, eating an apple as he came out, then threw it into the audience.

His N Hers vs Different Class.
A fight that will end in a bloody mess but i think His N Hers edges it for being slightlier grittier and slightly seedier.

I love Pulp, got Different Class in February, didn't stop listening for a month, i want to get His n Hers Deluxe Editon next.

Pulp were good. I've always thought jarvis needed to try a little harder. He was one of the brighter ones in the "Brit poop" era-not a hard thing to be in that climate- but alas a bit too NME to be interesting. His new album apart from 2 tracks is awful. He did do quite a good serise on Outsider art a while ago. If anyone has it could they let me know.

They'll never be another His N Hers but, keep 'em pumping out, Jarvis...

one of my favourite pulp songs ever..

cocaine socialism

I thought that you were joking
When you said "I want to see you
To discuss your contribution
To the future of our nation's heart and soul
Six o'clock, my place, Whitehall"

Well I arrived just after seven
But you said "It doesn't matter"
"I understand your situation
And your image, and I'm flattered
Oh and I'd just like to tell you
That I love all of your albums
Could you sign this for my daughter?
She's in hospital, her name is Miriam
Now I'll get down to the gist:
Do you want a line of this?
Are you a (sniff)
socialist?"

"Now I'm doin' fine, yeah!
Buzzin' all the time
Just one hit
And I feel great
And I support
The welfare state
Oh, you must be socialist
'Cos you're always off out on the piss
In your private member's bar
Oh yes you are
Yer superstar
Well you sing about common people
And the mis-shapes and the misfits
So can you bring them to my party
And get them all to sniff this?
And all I'm really saying
Is come on and rock the vote for me
All I'm really saying
Is come on roll up that note for me
Your choice in all of this is:
Do you want hits?
Or d'you want misses?
Are you a socialist, yeah
Socialist, yeah
Socialist, yeah
Oh yeah"

"Yeah, you can be just what you want to be
Just as long as you don't try to compete with me
And we've waited such a long time
For the chance to help our own kind, so now
Please come on and tow the party line
Oh you owe it to yourself
Don't think of anybody else
And we promise we won't tell
Oh we won't tell, and we won't sell"

No we won't
No we won't
No we won't

i've been to about 40plus pulp gigs in my time.. yes just slightly obsessed... if any of you are based in london and would like to some free stuff (fanzines, tons of clippings etc.. then get in touch.. i was going to get rid of them.. well pass them on to someone who'd appreciate it.. was about to put a message on one of the pulp fansites but then i saw this thread...

oh and i've got some bootleg audio cassettes of live stuff and their stint on john peel (rip) - they took over show when he was on holiday which i would be grateful if anyone could convert them to cd or mp3 ?

I love Pulp as Kewpie so rightly said! I am currently fixated with This Is Hardcore and We Love Life is good too. It's less dark than Hardcore (not hard I know) but still great. I would love to see Jarvis live, but I havn't managed it yet!

yes, i certainly am crazy about pulp. only saw them twice back in the 90s. but they were absolutely amazing. saw jarv a couple of months ago, and he's still brilliant. love him, and smackey.
i tried to request a track in another thread a little while ago, and now i'll do it again: does anybody have the 'common people' bootleg from a berlin gig in 1996? and if so, could you please upload it? or at least Bar Italia from that show? i would be eternally grateful.
