Leslie from The Salford lads club wrote to me today to say that the club had a stall at The Other Smiths concert at the Academy in Manchester last Saturday. It brought the club more than £200 in sales. So thanks to anyone who bought anything.

He said he had more great news. The club made it into the Times regarding Salford Council acknowledging the areas importance by starting to make the area a conservation zone.

Also, there will be a 2 hour live programme from the club on BBC radio Manchester on monday from 2-4.
Anyone who would like to come along will be most welcome.

Finally, he gave me this interesting link:

Re: BBC radio Salford on monday from 2-4

Yes, just read about this in today's MEN.
On Monday, BBC Radio Manchester is calling itself BBC Radio Salford and broadcasting from various localities within the city.
This is because from 2011 the BBC nationally is moving to Salford Quays to a new purpose built media centre.

There should have been an item on BBC Radio 4 Today programme this morning 'preserving the Real Coronation Street'. It was mentioned as an item coming up by Edward Sturton, but a discussion overran and it was missed out. Will probably now be on Monday.

PS The SLC website have noticed this month that while most of their hits come from USA and UK, they now have more hits from Italy than places like Canada, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Ireland.

Typical Mickey
Looking over his (heavily chipped) shoulder down at the East Lancs Road at what Manchester is doing (official - Manchester is now considered England's second city!) and tries to promote anything from MerkeyDive.

Yeah yeah yeah. Scousers. Everyone is a comedian. Loves their Ma, Is a loveable Scally blah blah blah.
Yet anyone who ever makes it big there cannot wait to hit the M62 and get out as fast as they can
Beatles, Cilla, Tarby etc.
Only Ken Dodd can hold his head high. :D

For a great radio show today, try Mike Joyce on www.revolutiononline.co.uk or in the Manchester area 96.2FM 4-7pm
