    Default Best of the 90's

Ok, dig out all your old 'Shine' compilations! What are peoples favourite tracks of the 90's, one of the most musically diverse decades? Please don't be afraid to admit to things that seem shameful now. LOTS of people liked Kula Shaker! Britpop, grunge, pop dance, what would go on a multi-disc compilation of the decade?

    AGREED!

Seriously, The Verve are (were...) shit hot.

Grunge was a decent, temporary form of music which helped reedeem some of the nineties. You then had Pulp out pip Oasis and Blur, that was great and different classes is an immense album.

You had bands like Backstreet boys and the whole boy band scene which promoted cover versions and made music materialistic and sugar coated, which is why we have shows like X factor and Pop Idol, plus hordes of manufactured pop music.

I like you. You're talking sense!!!

Fukkin Take That started it all. They killed pop music......

Richie A is ok, but as you rightly said, his solo stuff, nowhere near as good.
Having said that, Cry 'Till The Morning has to be one of the best songs ever (apart from Moz and Smiths, of course )

I have to say I've loved Graham Coxon's solo work, Happiness in magazine and Love travels at Illegal speeds are horribly good albums.

If people like manufactured music then that's entirely okay, but what annoys me about it is, these people release one cover version song as their first single, release an album covering songs, (which have been covered a thousands times by various people both on the big stage and down the local pub) and then they fizzle out and you never hear of them again.

I'd like shows like X factor if the people wrote their own songs and played instruments etc.

Hmm.. probably my #1 favourite would be No Doubt. They were also the first band I ever liked. I was 12 and my sister bought their "Tragic Kingdom" as a cassette.

I'd have to agree, although I did not come up with that fine piece of philosophy, some farmer from 1800's did, I think, I don't know. You're right, I don't live in the US, but I should, that way I won't have the worry of waking up in the middle of a bomb site.

I'm glad someone's appreciates my eccentric posts, you're the first. I feel so happy.

    I shall smile

    There that's better.
