    Default Hollywood Palladium 27/06/85

    Does anyone have this show, how is the quality on it? I read there is a radio broadcast of it but I've yet to come across it.

    "Shakespear's Sister" was due to be released as part of a "Rarities Vol. 2" compilation but was cut at the last minute and ONLY released on the promo copies of the album. I"ve been searching for it for years now. I'm thinking the bootleg might be the only way to get a copy of it. Unless anyone here has the promo only disk??? Anyway, any info on it is welcome.

    Thanks

    How Soon Is Now?
    /William It Was Really Nothing
    /Jeane
    //Rusholme Ruffians
    //Miserable Lie
    ///Barbarism Begins At Home

    The setlist remained the same as for the previous gig, without "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" and with a few changes in the order. The latter song would not return in the set until the Smiths came back to America in 1986 to tour their "The Queen Is Dead" album.

    Morrissey greeted the LA fans "Hello you little monsters" before launching into the intro song, a slow but powerful version of "Meat Is Murder". After "Hand In Glove", he said "Thank you troublemakers". After "Shakespeare's Sister" he asked "I wish people wouldn't throw things... it's not very nice..." Someone in the crowd commented about his remark and Morrissey asked "What?". "Stretch Out And Wait" was introduced with "This song is for you LA twinks... it's called 'Stretch Out And Wait'." Then "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" was preceded by "This song is for all the people who are really listening to this... and as for all the fake people, we know who you are". Something happened and the Smiths had to stop the song after one minute. Someone from the venue took the microphone, scolded the crowd and the Smiths then restarted "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" from the beginning.

    For some unknown reason, after "What She Said", Morrissey said "Strange..." "Rusholme Ruffians" was introduced with "This is very depressing" but after singing it Morrissey corrected himself by saying "I didn't really mean it when I said it was depressing... it's not depressing..." As had become custom, "Barbarism Begins At Home" was played last and was stretched to about 10 minutes.
