It’s a bag of wank. All those who like is are delusional and my opinion is the only one that matters. The end.

Just listened to it for the first time and without doubt the strangest Moz recording to date, like nothing else he's ever done before. To be honest I'm not sure yet. Nice to hear something totally different, though.

Just listened to it 23 times while I was ironing my clothes for the rest of this weeks gigs, and I have to say I think it's phenomenal.

It's already been noted that Klaus Nomi/Jobriath are in there somewhere, as well as the feel of some of Radiohead's soundscapes ('Kid A' is one of my favourite albums) and I hear those elements too, but, as always, it is the vocal which, eventually, insinuates itself into the head and the heart, and the backing track almost falls away to reveal a virtual acapella performance

There's no doubt that it is challenging initially, but if you trust Morrissey, he always rewards you in the end, and if you persevere with this track, you'll come to love it, just like you grew to love 'Life Is A Pigsty', 'Christian Dior', 'At Last I Am Born', and a host of other great songs which were castigated after one or two plays.

umm...i hate it. i could hardly listen to it.

i feel so blasphemous...because i usually love everything he does.

i mean, his voice, of course, is fantastic. i dont like the music though and definitely do not enjoy kristeen's youngs part.

To all those who hate the song with such passion...You're all boring!!!

This is the best b-side on ROTT. The other songs all stumbled either musically or lyrically...this song delivers both and adds to it a unique atmosphere.

Fuck...what's wrong with some of you Morrissey fans? Go listen to I Have Forgiven Jesus...

And don't forget to vote for me in the 'Rant of the Year' Poll damn it, it would be the best thing you did all day...no, all week!!!

    erm. all day.

This is some of you...ready? ready? "I hate this song, it's too weird, what's going on? You Are The Quarry is the best!!"

I'm thinking John and Yoko and I love John and Yoko. What's wrong with doing something totally different and experimental. Some people need to realize that they don't own Morrissey and he doesn't have to make songs to their tastes.

Have just listened again. It's shit.

no, really I just wanted to add that I don't mean that anyone has to like it, and I think it's good that lots of you don't. I just don't think you should expect to like every new song. It isn't my favorite b-side, and I'll have to listen to it for a few days to see what I really think. I just think it's exciting that Morrissey can still do something that's sort of far out for pop music. Have to say too that it isn't like this is that bizarre.

When I saw the title I thought it might be the old rockabilly song. I wonder if the ir is some sort of reference there?

I'd also say that maybe the entire mood of the track is meant to put across the meaning of the lyrics. Would be interesting to hear other versions, with vocal left alone and different music. Hope he does this live!

After this song I'm hoping for a new "Kill Uncle" lyric and music vise. t's kind of surrealistic, don't you agree and with the auite unmoz lyrics.

To be honest, both are horribly produced but atleast KU has a surrealistic dream landscape while YATQ are the same old really good stuff, I'd rather have some unique and hard listened stuff instead of another mainstream YATQ, and he learned something from KU so perhaps we will have this result again.

    That would be an experience.
    Cheers.

I only really ever listen to "Sing Your Life" and "Tony The Pony" from Kill Uncle.

I heard this for the first time this morning and I absolutely love it, now this is the kind of thing I like! It's so eerie and gorgeous and the lyrics are tragically beautiful, and his voice- Wow! When he went into that falsetto at the end my eyes widened in amazement, it sounds just incredible, and Kristeen's vocals in the background are in perfect compliment- it's like a final last sweet song as the winds whistling in the background. I like the oddness of it, I love to hear something new and I hope there's more experimentation like this to look forward to in the future, just brilliant

    Gorgeous is definitely the word.
Might I suggest to those who are struggling with the lack of guitars and traditional structure, that they just ignore the backing track for now and focus on the voices and the words, and then allow the music to filter through after focussing on the vocal for a few plays, and I feel sure that you'll find something to love in this beautiful track.

OK, Nottingham here I come, allthough I don't suppose I'll hear Sweetie-Pie, more's the pity.
