    What are your favourite non-Moz (i.e. non-singing) moments? #

    Mine are:

    • The outro on 'Let Me Kiss You'
    • The guitar solo on 'Jack the Ripper'
    • The outro on 'There Is A Light...'
    • The guitar riff on 'What Difference Does It Make?'
    • The outro on 'Well I Wonder' with the rain

Oscillate Wildly, well, yeah, that's a whole instrumental song and it has some advantages because of that, but it's just such an amazing song.

Some that come to mind are:
the very beginning of Life is a Pigsty with the rain and thunder in the background with the piano, just beautiful
sometimes I pretend that Moz isn't singing (or talking, whatever) on Sorrow Will Come in the End and just appreciate the fantastic music
of course the long instrumental sections in How Soon is Now?
the solo in Paint a Vulgar Picture
the solo in Jack the Ripper
the instrumental sections, with the distorted guitar and the cowbell in Alsatian Cousin
the string in Reader Meet Author
the guitar and clarinet in Whatever Happens, I Love You

I'm quite fond of the guitar, strings, and odd noises of Teachers. Is anyone else?
Fashion fascists and the plastic pantomime.

Yeah, that slipped my mind, it's very good the whole way through. I think that the beginning part of Southpaw with the vocals, which actually is a song, is better than Teachers but Teachers is actually listenable to the end and constitutes a song the whole time. The ending to Southpaw is just noise, not bad noise, but stuff that I didn't need six more minutes of.

    Definitely Oscillate Wildly.

After that then pretty much any backing track to Morrissey's vocals that the Smiths laid down. Special mentions to the understated pieces like "I know it's over" and "Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me." But having said that those two are special because they were tailor made for Morrissey. The Queen is dead, the headmaster ritual, Some girls, etc, etc, etc, the list of musical genius is endless.

My favourite solo pieces of music are probably National front disco and I know it's going to happen someday.

Previous posters, fine choices! Especially these:

Outro in "Let me kiss you", it's so soothing (I'm so used to closing my eyes and being emo when listening to this part that it's difficult to keep eyes open when hearing it live, for your info).

The intro och "Life is a pigsty", rain and piano. (And the guitar introducing the B part! And percussion in the end... and the bass in part A... and everything in that song)

The pain in "Alsatian cousin" & "Whatever happens - I love you".

If I had a list, these would be on it:
The string quartett in "Angel, down we go together".

The delicious piano arpeggios introducing a few lines in "Come back to Camden".

The piano (well, bass and drums too) on "King Leer", irresistable, makes me smile.
