Los Olvidados by Luis Buñuel. Great film.
What then is salvation? I believe that salvation is the process through which one suddenly is able to bear that this life is meaninglees, empty, cold and indifferent - in itself a nothingness.

I could watch the first bar sequence in DAMNATION on an endless loop.

I watched Gustavo Toratto's Medianeiras. It's an amazing film!

Just watched The Turin Horse. Its beauty is in its simplicity. But don't let this simplicity fool you. It is loaded with meaning about human existence i.e. the futility and the absurdity of life--all very existentialist. It's about living in survival mode without the luxury of self-actualization. Nothing is done for pleasure. All actions are carried out methodically with utility in mind.

This film is truly made by a great film auteur. Check out the press release attached to this post. Even it is beautiful in its simplicity. The minimalist credits are worth framing. There is no clutter here. Everything has its purpose.

Find a better friend. SUBMARINE blew! YOUTH IN REVOLT would have been the proper recomendation.

Just got back from seeing The Hunger Games. Great movie--way better than I thought it would be. I haven't read the book. But I think I now will.

Also, I watched Weekend (2011) on my PC last night. Loved it. This film is original, clever, engaging, erotic as hell, and very touching. I bet most Moz fans would enjoy it.

My familiar and I watched Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer the other night. I thought it was pretty entertaining. I guess it was pretty graphic for it's time.

Last night, I watched "Carnage", director Roman Polanski's take on the play "The God of Carnage" by playwright Yasmina Reza. I loved Reza's play "Art", and usually am a fan of Polanski's films, but this wasn't the great film I thought it could have been. Enjoyable enough, but not exactly what I was expecting. There were some strong (albeit over-the-top) performances from the 4 lead actors, particularly from Jodi Foster, and it was only 79 minutes long, so I can't complain too much!

I couldn't leave the theater fast enough afterward.

Apollo 18 the horror film or whatever which was pretty hard since I am absolutely sure humans have never been on the moon but then again maybe we never went back there for a reason if the stories are anything to go by. Yes, I know this film is some sort of mix between facts and fiction, if there are any facts at all, but I found the website mentioned at the beginning of the film quite interesting.

I am a sucker for space films and I don't know why. This film could be described as a poor mans Alien film as the astronaut is attacked by something that hides under his skin but all through the film I was thinking to myself that these men were just victims of a mass psychosis and I am happy to leave it at that.

The americans took so much LSD back then that they actually thought they went to the moon and back through layers of radiation that would have deep fried them. Maybe the russians were there like in this film but as they never had that american need to boast about it they kept quiet.

NICE! I'm happy to have made the introduction.

Busy few days for me as I was sick - Between my order finally coming in from FNAC Spain, HULU Plus Criterion, and my existing library, I screened the following in this order:

    EL SUR - Erice
THIS MUST BE THE PLACE - Sorrentino
DEATH OF A CYCLIST - Bardem
    THE DEVIL, PROBABLY - Bresson
    THE KID - Chaplin
    THE GREAT DICTATOR - Chaplin
    SEVEN YEAR ITCH - Wilder
    VERONIKA VOSS - Fassbinder
LA PIEL QUE HABITO - Almodovar

"LA PIEL QUE HABITO - Almodovar"

Great movie! Almodóvar is my favorite director.

Are you a fan of Werner Herzog? Have you seen Lessons in Darkness? I recommend it.

Btw, are you a film school student or graduate?

I'd never seen this before, I have no explanation as to why, although I have been aware of it forever, ever since I was little and I remember my dad had the soundtrack LP.

Last night an old friend came over and brought it and we watched it. I thought it was brilliant. I absolutely loved it.

I remember feeling the same way about that movie.
