    Default Scott Walker

I listened for the first time to Scott Walker. 'The Drift' to be precisely.
And there's only word that can apply: 'AWKWARD' (like that song about the bodies of Mussolini & woman, how friggin' morbid!)
I wonder, where should I best begin to dig in his repertoire? Is all of his music like that of 'The Drift'? Can you even call it _music_? Any S. Walker specialists here?

    Get 'Scott 4'.

I was surprised when I heard that his latest album was a morbid time-trip on the bodies of Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci, lying on the floor of P.zza Loreto more than 60 years ago.

I am actually living three minutes away from the place where they were hanged.

Did you listen to 'the drift'?

i haven't got the drift, which is his new lp.
most of his fan base is from when he was in the walker brothers, and his solo work from the late 60s/early 70s.
i would get his comp of jaques brel covers if anything; that is his best work. but he has also written lots of great songs himself too.
may be his lastest work wasn't the best introduction!

No, I haven't listened to it. You are not the first person to complain about that record. Maybe he is a bit crazy, or he simply wanted to go avant-garde, and like someone once said: "'avant-garde' is french for s**t".

The albums 'Scott' to 'Scott 4' are really good, lots of good arrangements and vocals and you can get them fairly cheap. The last album is a horror show really, there's lots to admire but not a lot of fun to be had. The song that people are refering to here is called 'Clara' and I think its very unsettling. However, the 1st 4 albums are accesible. am listening to Scott 2 just now!

It was mentioned above, but the Brel album is magnificent - get it if you can.

Scott, Scott 2, Scott 3 and Scott 4 are all amazing. Some of the best music ever made. The Walker Brothers were also great.

Everything made after Scott 4 I'm not into. Scott is definately in my top 10.

"til the band comes in" is great lp. shows humour in his work as in "jean the machine"
"time operator" is another fine song

I concur with the recommendations of the Brel covers, they're great, but the other ones are pretty good, too. The new stuff kinda makes me say "eh?"

They're all great. I haven't heard The Drift yet, tbh.
