There is one being sold on ebay. How does a "lay" person get hold of an item like this in the first place that they can sell it?
I thought those awards were given to the artist etc?

With a hopefully serious answer, I think more than the band members get a disc (producer, record company bods etc).
Some then get given as prizes in competitions and the winners who may not really be total fans then flog em on ebay or where ever as it is better to make a quick few pounds than have something stored away that is not wanted.
Recently on this site, a lad who won a disc in a BBC radio competiton - that was donated by Mike Joyce - was flogging it, 3 years after winning it, claiming hard times......
So these discs do get around.
