problems with wearing moz t shirts????!!!

Yeah, I wonder that one sometimes too. Although it does get vaguely confusing when I'm wearing the Your Arsenal t-shirt with Morrissey's lovely torso displayed, I'm thinking, is that guy admiring Moz or me?! It's quite funny to consider and I wonder if they're confused too

I wear a selection of mostly Smiths shirts but have never got comments, just looks. Maybe I seem unapproachable which is fine by me, although I think most people probably have no clue. I met a bunch of new people the other day whilst wearing a sweatshirt with a picture of Moz on and the quote 'I know it's over', and no one knew who he was! I was quite dismayed...

And I'm sure my 'Hang the DJ' shirt causes little old ladies to cross the road and to avoid me on the bus, very amusing

I live on a naval base...so that right there seems to be why nobody knows who moz is. OR they do and they are too 'cool' to admit it. Then again...no one says a word about my clash t-shirts...etc. Fine by me!

I love it when folk think they're funny and say "The Smiths - music to slit your wrists to", I reply "yeah" and show 'em the scars!

I've never had a problem when wearing Smiths/Moz t-shirts around town or at football. The only negative comments came from some kids at college who swore that Snow Patrol 'pish all over the Smiths"

The Smiths seem to be accepted as 'cool' while Morrissey isn't.

its where you live i guess. no problems for me. my 'Your Arsenal' shirt made people confused, thinking of the football team Arsenal; as the shirt didn't have a picture of morrissey on it. i had a shirt of morrissey in the pose of terence stamp holding the glass of milk (what smiths single was it), nobody recognised him to make a comment!
The best one (comment) i had this year was when I was wearing my "ringleaders" gramaphone t shirt, and a colleague said "that's about right" meaning me "the tormentor"! ha another time another chap was telling me about a gay club he goes to and all the smiths & morrissey records they play there.

At the moment, I only own one Morrissey T-shirt (I know, I know, shame on me...though I got hints last night that that is soon to change, what with my birthday coming up in November ). I haven't yet gotten any comments on the shirt, though I wear it a fair amount.

However, last year, I took a denim jacket and sewed white letters on the back, that say "THE SMITHS", like the jacket in the video for "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before". I have gotten several compliments on it. (I practically live in the jacket when it's chilly out, so that might at least partially explain why I've had so many comments on it )

Once, I was in a record store, and bought a Morrissey CD. I was wearing my Smiths jacket. The cashier said something like, "Well, it's no surprise that you're buying a Morrissey CD!"

All in all, I like it when random people make positive comments about whatever I'm wearing.

Last time I wore my fave Morrissey t-shirt, three people started to talk to me about Morrissey. I had a really long chat with a girl about seeing him live, and one bloke thaught it said 'Van Morrison' to start with. He then informed me that Van Morrison was better, which nearly earned him a smack in the mouth.

Being the slave to fashion that I am, Moz and Smiths T-shirts don't particularly entice me unless they're both very well made and look good as an item of clothing rather than a proclamation of my fandom.

I do not really like the whole band t-shirt 'thing'. However, if I got round to it I think having a well selected Smiths (Mozzer t-shirt ok, but Smiths is the preference) t-shirt is ok. It would need to be snug fitting, coupled with jeans...oh and the converse.

I saw a lad at uni the other day with a Moz t-shirt on in the Library, I wanted to run up and hug him...I didn't.

i used to wear band t-shirts at school and got a mix of positive and negative comments. now i'm at uni i still get a mix of positive and negative, mostly positive, probably due to the crowd i'm with now: i tend to wear my moz/smiths tees when i'm going to, say, a gig or an indie night, or if i'm hanging with friends, and i think thats why i get more positive comments about them now.

You really should the next time.
You know, wearing band shirts is a scream, a cry. A scream to the world, 'look at what I'm wearing, please notice me, especially others with the same taste. And that, I think is wonderful. Just like the smiles you get when you're wearing a Smiths/Morrissey-shirt or other band.

I too fall into this character, I will only wear a Smiths/Moz t-shirt that I think I can wear with smart jeans, oh the vanity!

My Smiths shirt has always served me well. I don't wear it too often so as to not destroy it, but this one time that I did, I went to Jimmy John's (awesome sandwich shop) and got a free sandwich because the manager happened to be a Smiths fan. Now THAT's a return in investment...

WHO THE HELL IS MUSE??

They are an English (I hope! - c'mon guys, help me out here...) 3-piece. They have been around for a few years now. The latest album - Black Holes & Revelations - has been out for 3-4 months and they've just done some festivals (well, a couple, at least) here in the UK.

I'm poor at describing bands, but I have previously (+ probably not originally) described them as a cross between Radiohead and Queen - sounds horrible, i know! Although i think this latest album has seen them cement their own style a bit more.

Other albums of theirs are Origins of Symmetry, Absolution and Showbiz (I may have missed one out here - I'm a little tired now).

Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea (excuse the english colloquialisms), but they are quite experimental and are doing a european (again, i think) tour over the next couple of months.

Try Absolution and the latest if you give them a listen.

I wear my 'The Queen Is Dead' shirt weekly. I also wear one my friend made for me with a pic of Boz and Alain doing funny faces. It gets a lot of attention in my town because it is cool to wear Smith's t-shirts, even if you don't listen to them. I get more comments about my Oasis vs. Blur '95 Britpop brawl T-shirt.

Apols if it's all been said before, but this post reminds me of a recent poll on the solo-site about Moz/smiths fans getting grief - even if walking down the street - for, well, just being that.

I think i answered yes to that, but my response would be, as others have said/written on here: fuck 'em. It's part + parcel of being a fan, as far as I'm concerned. You might need to be thick-skinned sometimes, but it's worth it.

As Mark Simpson cited on the back sleeve of his book, the Morrissey quote (somewhat vaingloriously, perhaps):

"Admiring me...is quite a task. Because if you say you like Morrissey, then you have to explain why."

you listed all their studio albums but missed the b-sides album "hullabaloo." but yeah you got a lot of stuff right (like the fact they are english). i'd agree that they sound like a combination of queen and radiohead, but often more like radiohead than queen - i know people who hate queen but love muse and radiohead. imagine a heavier version of "death of a disco dancer" to get a rough idea.
