Actually, yes, but especially that era. To me, there's something so compelling and tragic about that particular war, and what came after. I've always loved Owen's work. My favorite of his is:
Futility
Move him into the sun —
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields unsown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.
Think how it wakes the seeds —
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs so dear-achieved, are sides
Full-nerved, — still warm, — too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
— O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth's sleep at all?
A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was
nicely made, and everything was picked up.
Then, he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow.
It was addressed, "Dad." With the worst premonition, he opened the
envelope and read the letter, with trembling hands.
"Dear, Dad.
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope
with my new girlfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and
you.
I've been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew
you would not approve of her, because of all her piercings, tattoos, her
tight Motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am.
But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's pregnant.
Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods,
and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter.
We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes
to the fact that marijuana doesn't, really hurt anyone.
We'll be growing it for ourselves, and trading it with the other people
in the commune, for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.
In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS, so
Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it!!
Don't worry Dad, I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself.
Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your
many grandchildren.
Love,
your son, John.
P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just
wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school
report that's on my desk. I love you! Call when it is safe for me to
come home.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself

I'm thinking my costume for the party I'm going to on Saturday kicks ass! I'm also thinking I'd better take some safety pins as there is not very much stiching to hold it together!
"You're a punk, so now you're glue sniffing. Well done."
I have to go to a party tonight where I'll only know the people I'm going with. I soooo don't want to go, but I've given my word (I hate it when that happens).![]()
I'm not anti-parties as a rule, it's just that the first part of any party is excruciating, like waiting to see if the Space Shuttle is going to launch safely: everyone's milling around on their best behavior, waiting to see whether the alcohol will take effect before superficial conversation runs out. I don't drink, but I admit that I do find inebriated people so much better company than (most) sober ones...
you might be surprised, you may enjoy the party. it's happen to me in the past. i understand what you are saying about the 1st part of the evening. well if you like inebriated, yer love me by about 11 o'clock!
i like this picture....
i need to get dressed and buy some chocolate!

Why do I have such a lack of motivation in finishing the important work I know I should be doing, and why do I continually profane and leave things dangeorusly to the last minute, underacheive as a result, and then wind up overworking myself into a stressed frenzy in such a short space of time?
It's my own fault I know, but does anyone have a cure for near complete and utter demotivation?
Will you follow and know, know me more than you do, track me down, and try to win me?
I think to myself: "what a wonderful world"![]()
No cure, but if it's any consolation, you just described me to the letter. I did nothing all summer (as evident by my post count), and now that uni's started my lazyness has come to bite me in the ass.
Seriously though, do you generally enjoy what you do? If you don't, motivating yourself is gonna be mighty hard.
Wrong forum, my friend.
Right. I am going to bed. I can't believe I still feel rough, I must be getting old! I can't keep my eyes open any more! Oooh, at Uni tomorrow, not school, get to see my crush! I've missed not looking at him every day!

Hiya hatfull! (Or bye, since you're leaving...). I miss you guys!
Seeing your crush should sweeten the end of the holiday, eh?I've only had a week of school and I already have a semi crush of my own. He's an American this time - I really do love me those exchange students
. (He's only for looking of course, as I'm practically married
).
