Do yourself an enormous favour and purchase Bona Drag first (a compliation), followed by Vauxhall and I (studio album). If you're partial to those two, and you will be, then expand to Viva Hate, Your Arsenal etc. I adore Viva Hate, so that one might not be a bad start either, although I'm terribly biased.

I would make it a high priority to purchase all the Smiths albums as well. Hatful of Hollow would make a nice start if you haven't heard any before, as would Louder Than Bombs or The World Won't Listen, which are all compilations.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the records!

If you email me at northernleeches@gmail.com I'll send some of my favorite live recordings. I don't trade in official releases though except for out-of-print stuff like some of the b-sides.

Maybe I should have told you all which Morrissey albums I do own.

Yes. I like 'You are The Quarry' a bit more than 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors'. However I do think it's a good album and 'Life is a Pigsty' is a really great song.

I already have 'The Queen is Dead' and 'Hatful of Hollow'. I do like The Queen is Dead more than Hatful of Hollow, so my Smiths collection stopped there.

After I bought the "Who Put the 'M' in Manchester?" DVD I liked Morrissey even more, so I must be ready for more Morrissey stuff

Highlights on this DVD for me are:

    Everyday Is Like Sunday
    I Have Forgiven Jesus
How Can Anybody Possible Know How I Feel?
The World Is Full of Crashing Bores
    I'm Not Sorry
    Shoplifters Of The World Unite
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.

I'm more a 'pop' than a 'rock' kind of guy and maybe the information above tells you more about which Morrissey albums I probably like.

    Don't bother.

Before you know it you'll be spiralling out of debt, quoting Morrissey ad infinitum, watching crap black and white movies and generally thinking you're all alone in the world apart from the trolls on this website!

If you don't heed my advice.... hmmm I'd go wtih Bona Drag and, as you've got Hatful Of Hollow, The World Won't Listen.

    Hi Dennis,
I'm a quite new fan too as it really began for me with 'You are the quarry'. Before that, I had, 'Viva hate', 'Vauxhall and I' and 'Bona drag' that I of course enjoyed but I have got a real kick with the last album ROTT that give me the desire to know more. Through this great site and others as akiwarare, I have especially discovered some live stuff and songs that I didn't know before at the same time. And same thing for The Smiths : I had 'The queen is dead' and 'Hatefull of hollow' albums since some years, enjoying some songs but not more. It had needed to grow up in me in fact and now, The Smiths' songs and even more the Morrissey's materials have 'exploded' and are always around me ! So of course, buy all the albums little by little (I haven't everything myself yet !!! These last times I have eat bootlegs until almost death ! ) but as I told you, with all the live recordings that it's possible to find around, it is also a great way to know more songs, other versions and enter in this so 'charming world'... ! Last thing : don't forget the live DVD's. 'Who put the 'M' to Manchester' caught me litterally... and I became Moz's quarry !
