Can anybody tell me about "flac"

Can you use them like any other audio file...?
Plus i was thinking about the size of the tracks how can you actually put them onto cdr?

*this is to do with downloads as i'm downloading an album now and i'm planning on uploading it, so don't move it to off topic or whatever thanks*

FLAC is a file format that is described as being "lossless" - in other words, unlike other compressed file formats such as mp3, there is no loss of any information in the audio stream - resulting in a better quality audio file. However, to accommodate for this incrase in quality, FLAC file sizes will be a lot greater than those of mp3s.

You can play FLAC files on your computer by using the VCL Player, which you can download free from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

To burn FLAC files onto CDR, I usually convert the FLAC into WAV (another lossless file format which plays in all CD players). To do this I use Xilisoft (http://www.xilisoft.com/mp3-wav-converter.html).

You don't have to download vlc player.

You can play them in Windows Media Player:
    http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/oggcodecs_0.71.0946.exe

    And in Winamp:
    http://www.winamp.com/plugins/detail...in_for_WA2.exe

All it takes is to download and install the codecs (those would be these two posted above).
