I'm a simple man, no fancy stuff for me, I like my mates to be down to earth, honest, loyal and trusting, not like those 'orrible cat things.

Anyway, my favourite dog is a border collie, just like this one:

I think I love these so much as I used to have one as a kid then my mum and I moved to a flat (apartment for the Americans out there ) when I was 10 and my mum didn't tell me we couldn't take Ben. I didn't realise for a couple of hours on the day of the move, and didn't speak to my mum for 3 weeks in protest once I did eventually realise. He was a good mate, I'd tie his lead to my bike and ride around our estate (yes, as in Teenage Dad).

I miss him and work commitments mean it would be unfair to have a dog right now in my life and they'd be lonely all day by themselves.

My dog Indi (after Indiana Jones). This was a couple of months ago before he had his hair cut.

So people DO actually get their dogs hair cut?

There's a shop near to my house called "Doggie Style" and unfortunatley it wasn't what I was expecting but was a salon for dogs!

What did you think? The dogs self-regulated their hair length?

And I'm convinced some businessmen name their companies dirty things for a laugh. There's a plumbing service in Dublin called "Holemasters". Yup. The first time I saw a van with a big burly man driving it with "Holemasters" all over it, I nearly died.

I always had cats growing up. Three I think.. And, of course, I always wanted a dog! Well, all's good now then - with pets of our own choice!

can't wait to see them (esp. the pups)! Westies and Kerry Blues are very good-looking dogs.

dazzak: very laughable one there (holemasters anecdote)!

my in-laws have just gotten a border collie pup. god DAMN - THAT PUPPY IS SO FREAKIN' CUTE!!!!!!!

i'd love to have a puppy/dog. our place is too small for a dog, though, and our yard is all cement. not too fun for a pup, though it would prolly love playing with our cats.

^^ smiles to Freya! And Puff is wagging at you for the compliment.

yes, Puff has to incur lots of trimmings because she is a long-haired dog and her fur can get unmanageable otherwise. In the summer, she gets completely shaved except head and tail. The tail stays long and her head is cut shorter but not shaved.

NOTE: That haircut report was partly to also further edify mjp!

^ Thanks to no one who is becoming more of a word snob by the post for clarifying the whole cutting of hair thing - is that in case you have the need for hair of the dog (omg I'm sooo funny!).

^ have no fear, Pervo. The cats thread has been around since june 25 and the dogs thread only since july 19 (three weeks difference! - and i hate to do this again, people might be fed up with me - but that calculation was mostly to help mjp since he has a little trouble with numbers sometimes , recall Cristiano Ronaldo thread if anyone needs clarification)

so, the dogs thread already has almost half the posts of the cats thread in with just a fraction of its longevity. i think we are making great progress. keep at it dog lovers, supporters and even hecklers!

Dogs are the antithesis of culture!
