My son just got his first cat, Bella. Two days ago she was spayed. Well, last night, she gave him a scare. Had thrown up and was not her usual self. He took her to the emergency room and they gave her a hydration injection--whatever that is. This morning she was still weak when he went to work. But lo and behold she was chipper when he got home and eager to munch. I am so relieved.

It is a rug. He is 22. First apartment w/o a roommate. Painted cement floor. Downtown studio. Make sense now?

I'm so sorry.
I recently put a cat down on a vet visit I thought was routine. She seemed oddly relieved/excited about it, like they know more than we do about the ecstasy of death or something. Hang in there.

Final family portrait makes me sad. Tomorrow the first kitten goes home to his new family. The woman who wanted him asked that he stay with the mother for 12 weeks, I said I could arrange that. They are seven weeks. As I sent her videos and photos of her cat, she grew more and more impatient and decided to pick him up five weeks early. Normally I'd caution they should stay with the mom for eight weeks and play with their siblings to learn bite control and social skills, but this one kitten has always been a bit of a loner, he'll be sad for only a short time. I wish I could tell him, "Soak it up Gus, this is the last few moments you'll be with your kind." He's going to a posh home in San Diego with two grade school daughters and a son in high school who is most looking forward to the kitten since his cat he knew his whole life just died. There are plans for him to eat a raw diet of freshly prepared meat with garden grown catnip and biodegradable litter. He's going to one of those Whole Foods families. He'll be alright. I'll miss him. He's the white one closer to mom's head.

So I moved Jolene and one son Car Wash to my moms house. My mom has a chihuahua who pees on wee wee pads. Car Wash is only 9 weeks so still learning about life from his environment. He's eating dogfood and peeing on the wee wee pad. He still poops in the litter box.
Poor Car Wash, this is his new teacher. Teddy is literally afraid of EVERYTHING. Teddy is hilarious though. They might be great together.

My sister bought a $70 three-story cat condo that came with one wordless page of instructions, but it worked! It only took an hour to assemble. The only cat interested in it is Car Wash which is fine since he was in mind when she bought it.
In other news I'm looking for a good home for the mother of my litter of kittens. She's spayed and up on her shots and very mellow and loving, provided all the doors are open, she's the only female cat, there are no dogs her size and she is in charge. Very, very much has an agenda to be in charge which isn't working with the dynamics of my mom's house. And she's teaching Car Wash to be a jerk which makes me a little nervous, she keeps instigating fights with our old cat Grace and my mom's chihuahua Teddy. But alone? She's mellowtimes and pretty cool. Get the word out if you know anyone between San Diego and San Luis Obispo, I'll deliver. She's young too, maybe not even a year. Also she wants to eat caged birds. In short looking for a house that needs one cool cat.
