What song are you listening to right now?

There's a word for it
And words don't mean a thing
There's name for it
And names make all the difference in the world
Some things can never be spoken
Some things cannot be pronounced...

Oh Marieke, Marieke, I loved you so much
Between the towers of Bruges and Ghent
Oh Marieke, Marieke, long ago
Between the towers of Bruges and Ghent

Without love, warm love
The wind blows, the stupid wind
Without love, warm love
The ocean cries, the grey ocean

Without love, warm love
The light suffers, the dark light
And the sand scours my country
My flat country, my Flanders

Oh Marieke, Marieke, the Flemish sky
The colour of the towers between Bruges and Ghent
Oh Marieke, Marieke, the Flemish sky
Cries with me from Bruges to Ghent

Without love, warm love
The wind blows “it's over”
Without love, warm love
The ocean cries “already over”

Without love, warm love
The light suffers, “everything is over”
And the sand scours my country
My flat country, my Flanders

Oh Marieke, Marieke, the Flemish sky
Did it weigh too much from Bruges to Ghent?
Oh Marieke, Marieke, on your twenty years
I loved that so much, from Bruges to Ghent

Without love, warm love
The devil laughs, the black devil
Without love, warm love
My heart burns, my old heart

Without love, warm love
The summer dies, the sad summer
And the sand scours my country
My flat country, my Flanders

Oh Marieke, Marieke, rewind the time
Rewind the time back to Bruges and Ghent
Oh Marieke, Marieke, rewind the time
Where you loved me, from Bruges to Ghent

Oh Marieke, Marieke, often at night
Between the towers of Bruges and Ghent
Oh Marieke, Marieke, all ponds
Open their/your arms for me from Bruges to Ghent
From Bruges to Ghent, from Bruges to Ghent…

The album version though

Had a laugh with friends last weekend, one of whom is developing a serious drinking problem. While joking/hinting at what his rock bottom could be, a story was told of the Fleetwood Mac concert they attended a month ago. During Gypsy he lost it and started vomiting all over everyone in his vicinity, it was apparently a spraying-through-the-fingers, run before they catch us, women crying and screaming situation, all during this song at The Forum. He just kept laughing, apprently it's not his rock bottom yet. it was my highlight, I cued it up on my phone and played it every time he ordered a drink or snuck out for a hit. Taking tough-love trolling to the next level. :D

PJ Harvey - The Words That Maketh Murder

Never really understood the point of PJ Harvey but the album on which this song belongs ( Let England Shake) has really impressed me, particularly the above.

A great , jaunty , sing-along track detailing the ultimate obscenity of war. Compels thought ( via that odd juxtaposition ) ...

There's a rug store in WeHo called Lawrence of La Brea. Made me smile the other day. THis is on the radio now, better than a rug store not even on La Brea.
