What song are you listening to right now?

MTV 120 Minutes show made me remember the year 1992 when The Wedding Present released a new single each month that year. They were later put together on their "Hit Parade" album. Though every song was great I still remember how the song and video for the song "Boing" became a personal favourite. David Gedge really has a special way to write about love and longing and falling in love and breaking up. The weird bit is how I chatted with his current girlfriend, I hope that they are still together, Jess on the Solo chat for a few years before she met David, whom she was a big fan of, and they fell in love.

I always felt from Davids lyrics that he is the type of man that when he falls in love he does so with his entire soul and a bit. So it was no surprise to me when he wrote the song "Queen Anne" for Jess, inspired by where she is from in Seattle. I wish there were more people like David in music who can combine great music with lyrics that go from the almost childish to the very deep and he always made sure The Wedding Present had great endings to their songs that are worth waiting for. I was pleased for David and Jess to learn that Morrissey had them both on his VIP list when he toured south of England some years ago.

"I just wanna cling to you and save you from the universe". Oh David, Jess is a tough girl she can hold her own.

Terrifyingly enough , I'm listening to the "Battle of the Planets" opening theme

Although it isn't just nostalgia - the 0.55m to 1.13m still sounds uber...

It's funny how clunky the editing sounds at that 0.55m moment - still, I guess such were the joys of the 1970s (?)...

Found this live recording from KEXP Seattle of The Wedding Present and it looks like Jess was in the studio with the band and can be seen at 03:20. She's the ginger girl sitting down and she is a real chat legend from the Solo chat days.

The swedish video for New Order track "Krafty" made me think of the big laundry factory across the road that could be seen from what turned out to be my last job. I think Johan Renck tried to copy the KENT video director in this one but managed well to capture the swedish humdrum gloom.

This is the original he tried to copy, the video for the KENT song "Kärleken väntar":
