And just as I go to post this the cat runs under my desk and I grab it by the tail and feel the spine segments; it doesn't know Death is hiding just underneath the surface.
I'm lost - is this something specific to the cat or a general gripe on your part as to how all living things move towards their end ?
Why am I actually asking this ? Hang on ... that's right ( it just came properly to mind) ; weren't you joking/not joking the other day about an ill cat ?

Ministry - Lay Lady Lay
About a million times better than the original put out by Ol' Raspy...
U2 - Get On Your Boots
It's a fun enough sounding song , but I've just worked out what I dislike about it. That line "... women are the future of all the big revelations..." . I hate it. It comes across as nothing other than fetishistic , caricaturing crap. The image it calls to mind is of a Caucasian guy rushing up to a black guy and exclaiming " I love niggers !" and giving him a bear hug. Just seems little else than a contrived attempt to appear "sensitive" ; you know , the brandishing of the gender to demonstrate Bono's own "tolerance" and "sophistication". Surely , the real sophistication might lie in not patronising women in order to exhibit one's "feminist credentials" ....

U2 - Acrobat
Is possibly (?) my favourite song. Why didn't they ever play it live ?
U2 - Dancing Barefoot
Yes, I'll say it again - about a thousand times better than the original. Enjoyed the lyric change from " ... I fell for you..." in Patti Smith's version to " ...I feel for you..." in this one.
Niall Stokes , in his otherwise admirable book " Into the Heart : the stories behind every U2 song" refers to this song as being "...straight and grungy...". God knows why because it's simply a quiet, affecting, unapologetically minor song .
I think I might stop posting about U2 now ...
April Fool - Patti Smith.
"You have killed me Jose' but my heart is free"
Half a person. I totally forgot how much I love it.
And I heard so many things I failed to understand at all
The National - Cherry Tree
Was played over the credits of a documentary I was watching about the Earth Liberation Front. By turns a lament and ... ?
The Good The Bad and the Queen - Kingdom of Doom
Memories - PIL
What do we get for our trouble and pain ?
Just a rented room in Whalley Range
What do we get for our trouble and pain ?

I demand more Edgington covers.
