There are ways to transfer vinyl to mp3 format. If you google "vinyl to mp3" you'll find a lot of information. If you have any sort of audio interface it should be easy, although I haven't done it myself. I can usually find most of my vinyl collection already converted to mp3.
What is it exactly, a turntable that plugs in via firewire or usb or something? I realize that sounds weird, but my first thought about how to record an LP to mp3 would be to route a record player's line-out to a firewire or usb audio interface (or an audio line-in of course if there's a computer around that has a good one).
It's so strange, I don't even have a record player, I only ever had about 15 LPs, and I only had them because they were lauded albums available for around $1. They're all available on cd, so I've never kept a record player...
