The tickets were free in the first place. I wouldn't pay for them.

Dear Saccharine Dream

There's a place in hell for you and your free tkts.

Re: Dear Saccharine Dream

It's called capitalism. If you don't like it - change it.
Otherwise stop bleating.
Making out you're all soooo 'right-on' is simply juvenile in the extreme.
In this capitalist society (you choose to keep it this way) people make money by selling valuable goods. Those tickets are clearly valuable as the bids are rising on ebay.
So grow up, perhaps you should read something useful, maybe The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.
Anyhow, stop moaning from your hovel about the life YOU CHOOSE.

Re: Dear Saccharine Dream

I can see why Morrissey hates this website. Scum of the earth

Re: 'Right-on'

How do you suggest we change it? Another Communist Revolution?
Capitalism is the system we've inherited and choice doesn't really come into it.
You would hope that people sell goods at a fair price.
There is something unethical about making a huge profit out of selling free tickets. Remember how we couldn't get Morrissey tickets this time because of the touts buying them all?! Are you saying greed is acceptable?

Exactly

Re: 'Right-on'

I don't like it either. In fact I detest it. But capitalism is all about greed.
You say 'another communist revolution', I don't remember the first one, did I miss it? So you hate this greedy system, but you don't think it can be changed?
Is this really the best we can do?

No, I don't remember the last communist revolution either, but I have a postcard of Che Guevera on my computer and he inspired me to put that in!
How would I know how we change capitalism?! I haven't a clue, although the greed it produces will literally be the death of all of us.
Or to quote Woody Allen badly, (and somewhat off the subject)
'How do I know why there were Nazis, I don't even know how my tin opener works!'
At a guess I would say fairness would be a good start. Fair trade. Fair ticket price.
Not encouraging above scams.
Rant over.

Re: 'Right-on'.....and on, and on....

So you have a picture of Che, but you haven't bothered to look into the politics? No wonder we are in a mess. Viva Apathy!
No doubt you find Che physically attractive, such is the world.

Oh please!! No, I wouldn't claim to be an expert on the politics of Communism.
I'm assuming you are then?
And I may be many things, but apathetic is not one of them.
Thank you. You have just reminded me why I don't bother to come here anymore.
Because people are incapable of having an intelligent debate about anything without resorting to personal abuse.
I suggest you take your own advice and grow up!

I'd like to put my views across as it's always frustrating when people misconstrue your intentions. I was canny enough to write to the BBC and lucky enough to have received a reply. Sadly my friends let me down and so I thought £5 was a fair price for a genuine fan to pay. Back in 2004 I bought two pricey tickets for an exclusive free Belle and Sebastian gig on ebay and was absolutely delighted.

I am a longtime fan on a low income and have spent an absolute fortune on the tour so far...this money will now go towards either another Moz gig or merchandise. I believe that touts are wrong and low in that they aim to make ludicrous profits on the disappointment of genuine fans...but I will not fall into the pretence of masquarading as a paragon of virtue like some on this messageboard: I am not forcing people to bid on these tickets.

If someone has the money and feel it's worth it, good for them. If you are not interested I suggest you take up a hobby or two as opposed to engaging in the futile excercise of wasting your time criticising strangers.

Thank you for your time.

Re: A paragon of virtue responds...

The current bid for your free ticket is £66.
How is that any different from your average tout, in principle at least? Why not just give it away if you don't want it?
I have also spent a lot of money on this tour, and don't happen to be on a great income , but I don't plan to fund my lifestyle by exploiting other people's genuine desire to see Morrissey. That's clearly where we part company.
And contrary to your suggestion, have I actually criticised you personally? Or anyone else on here? I just don't happen to agree with you.
I'm sure we'll both get over it.
