Default Unreleased Morrissey Songs To Go

Now November the Second has possibly surfaced, here is a rough list of the most likely to exist Morrissey songs that haven't seen the light of day as of yet: -

    Came Here For (?)
    Fantastic Bird
    Home Is A Question Mark
    I'm Not Worth Hitting (?)
    Kill Uncle (Half a song)
    Kit
    Me Satisfied (?)
    Stay As You Are
Take Us The Way We Are
You Should Have Been Nice To Me (?)

    (?) - Possibles
(P.S. Could 'Stay As You Are' and 'Take Us The Way We Are' refer to the same song?)

Other songs that are rumoured from around the 1988 period of Viva Hate include: -

    Belfast
Cage Of Marriage (could have become 'Will Never Marry'?)
    Chainsaw (could have become 'Speedway'?)
    Dennis Cockall Song
    Experiment
    Glass Menagerie
    One Of Our Own
    Safe Warm Lancashire Home
Sisterama (could have become 'Sister I'm A Poet'?)

I've elaborated on a couple of songs in the second list of songs so don't take that as concrete (other than Sisterama which is the original sources view) as well as the P.S.

Thank you to Stefan Krix and all on the Morrissey scene for the above information!

Default hypothetical question: if you were a mover and morrissey fan, and were called in to moz's house...

to move his stuff out, would you kinda a look around for any unrealeased material? if oyu found some, what would you do? i mean you are driving the truck away, you could stop by your house and make copies.

of course if you were in his house there would be many things one is very interested in finding out.

I'd just lie on the bed and sleep.

After kissing the pillow of course.

    Default You forgot...

Moz just mentioned in the latest round of Julia's questions (I believe) that they did record a studio version of "Noise Is The Best Revenge".

    Add that to the list...

Also, anyone else wonder why this November the 2nd is making news NOW, when another copy of this went up a few months (6? 7?) ago? Didn't (Shithead) Mike at Morrissey Madness claim to have sold one?

Default I'm Not Worth Hitting is a definite yes

I haven't heard this track, but I have a scan of a cassette that lists this track in Morrissey's handwriting.

Ok, I have Should Have Been Nice To Me somewhere as well. As I recall it was a rough unfinished track from the Southpaw Grammar sessions. Morrissey certainly had not finished writing the lyrics etc. I alse have rough early vocal versions of some of the Southpaw tracks - I recall Reader Meet Author with a different lyric at one point, instead of 'You'd be the first away / because you're that type' Mozz sang 'It doesn't really help to know how fast you type' or something like that.

Also I have Belfast and the Glass Menagerie but they are both odd sound effect heavy unfocused 'ideas' (for want of a better word) and certainly no Mozz vocals on them etc...

The Dennis Cockall Song is just 'Swallow On My Neck' - that was its original title on the Master tapes.

I'll have to have a good dig around and see if I can unearth any more hidden gems...if you are all very nice to me that is ;-)

Other definites missing from the list are:

    Buddy Buried Deeply
    Snake Curves Silently
    In Control of Dame Dominance

    I think they are post-Southpaw.

Steve Lillywhite use to visit the Moz chat room on AOL back in 97. he stated that it was demo-ed and not sure it would be completed later for a b-side. this was just before Maladjusted was released.

Noise was released as a b-side. It was "Playing Easy to Get" that hasn't been issued properly. I'd love to hear a final polished version of it.

Default Another version of No One Can Hold a Candle To You

Recorded during Maladjusted and purportedly on the original master. Johnny mentioned Kitt from the same sessions.

Simon Goddard mentioned another one from Viva Hate called Lifeguard on Duty as well as another titled rather wittily Fast Car, Sharp Curve, Bye Bye.

    Cheers,

    Jamie

Apparently the lifeguard lyric was written during The Queen Is Dead and spent nearly a decade looking for a home until it surfaced on Vauxhall.
