Anyone heard the album yet? The title is Albert Finney and in this month's Word magazine by Andrew Collins confessing his fandom which contains the following statement: "Arctic Monkeys.. are the most exciting band I've seen or heard since The Smiths".
    Got me curious.

the album is called "everything you say i am i am not "or something equally as childish.

The title is very Morrissey though: "Whatever people say I'm not, That's what I'm not'. Apparantly his favourite Albert Finney-quote from his favourite Film Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. It is also in The Smiths South Bank Show.

In the UK the hype surrounding them is ridiculous but they are very very very good. And they're only 19! Very tight, excellent lyrics, exciting tunes.

Alas to see them on the NME tour is going to cost the best part of £40 to £50 off e-bay, due to the hype. (missed the announcement and it all sold out round the UK within 3 days!!!)

They were on MTV2 last night, live from Liverpool Barfly. They are playing the Melkweg towards the end of Feb, but I think its sold out.

I think their debut album is the best debut since Oasis.
And to all the nay-sayers Oasis were genuinely thrilling when they started out.

    Put on your dancing shoes......

shame the cd lacks the seductive quality of the previously available online tracks, imo.

One or two songs on the album were better as demos but once you get past that disappointment it is a remarkable album.
