A site listing "the best" music lyric quotes, in various categories and by artist.

I don't know the rational behind what is listed but no Morrissey or The Smiths in the top 100.

Only two real Morrissey lines and 35 from The Smiths in the enire catalog of over 13000 song quotes.

The suppose number one line is:
"All lies and jest, still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. - Simon and Garfunkel, The Boxer "

Number 50 is:
Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da, life goes on. - The Beatles, Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da

I think the "You're the one for me Fatty" should be over that.

Katie Melua won't be topping that chart

"There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact,
It's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die."

also

"If a black man is racist, is it okay?
When it's the white man's racism that made him that way..."

96 You rise as high as your dominant aspiration, you descend to the level of your lowest concept of yourself. Free your mind and your ass will follow. - Funkadelic, Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts

How about
"my name is Prince and I am funky"
'pink is my favorite crayon"
"she likes lemons"

"Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty
You're listening to the boy from the big bad city
This is jam hot"

Has anyone ever fathomed that one? It's a goodun though.

I wouldn't worry about Moz not being listed; he's going to have to die before anyone recognises his genius. I got a damaged copy of a book called 'Great British Wit' from work, which lists quotes from famous Brits. I thought 'Moz is bound to be in here somewhere', but no ... every bugger except our man.

It's like Joni said "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone". (one for the lyrics quotes aswell)

Come the next 40 - odd years, we'll be claiming him back as Britain's lost son. But by then, it'll be too late.
