Some of the Smiths stuff he does on Who Put the M and other live shows just doesnt hold up. I loved seeing him in concert, he made me cry, but A Rush And A Push didnt do it for me. Even Rubber Ring was off. Am I just an ass? *For this reason only*

I think his go at the headmaster ritual and a rush and a push were sub par

but rubber ring, shoplifters and there is a light that never goes out
were all great

i liked light but the others left me wanting. i guess shoplifters worked. rush and a push was in need of apology.

i totally agree, they don't sound the same at all. Almost sounds like someone doing Smiths covers.

No, you're not "just an ass", but you're also.........

an unwiped ass, someone who knows dick about anything, a failed abortion, a scrotum scrape. What f***in more do you want genius? Go back to jackin off your dog and leave the concerts to people who really appreciate it.

Well it's twenty years on and who knows what the Smiths would sound like today? If they'd been winding down the same songs for two decades, they surely would have changed their style here and there.

Plus, it's the only chance we'll ever get to hear these songs, so what the heck....

well I think it is really nice he does those songs again. Some of those smiths songs he did on Who put he M were a bit to slow..........

I agree.. but let's put it in perspective.

.. how could anyone ever play like Johnny in his prime. The sounds other adept guitarists make will never ever touch those heights! Johnny's talents have been sorely wasted for the last 10 years.

Some of the Smiths stuff he covers is good.I particulary liked "Shakespeare's Sister".
By far the worst I have heard is "Headmaster Ritual". They were playing that song for 30 seconds before I realised what it was.

As my good friend, and Champion Of The Ladies, Ruffian suggests,I think it is pourely down to Marr's brilliance.

Morrissey also tends to insist on The Smiths' covers being played at a much slower tempo.
