Very brief Smiths reference in Nick Hornby's latest novel

In Nick Hornby's latest offering 'A Long Way Down", there is a brief Smiths reference.

"And people do put money on the blanket. I got about ten pounds for playing 'Losing My Religion' to a whole crowd of Spanish kids outside Madame Tussauds, and only a little less from a bunch of Swedes or whatever the next day ('William, It Was Really Nothing', Tate Modern)".

I thought the book was woeful. Lame unoriginal characters. Very little plot. Lots of anti Blair messages. I think Hornby's best days as a novelist are well and truly over. Toby Litt and Peter Jinks are the better young male authors of today rather than Hornby. However, what do I know. The book will be made in a film, starring Hugh Grant as the character Martin and go on and win a Bafta and some other literary prize.

I'd use the book to line the budgie's cage, expect it's a library book.
