Default Anyone got access to BBC4...?

According to the Observer (http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,6903,1519735,00.html), there's a documentary on the rise & fall of the NME on BBC4 tomorrow (Monday) night at 9pm. I should have thought that there will be some kind of Moz content involved in this, so could someone keep an eye out...?

    Inky Fingers: The NME Story

In August, NME publishes its 3,000th issue. Journalists, editors and musicians look back at the personalities who helped create a magazine reflecting our musical culture. Strong language.

It's on from 9-10 pm so no doubt there will be some Moz content (possibly related to the strong language?)

Possibly. I can only hope that there'll be some similarly strident imagery. You will let me know, won't you?

No specific Moz content mentioned on the BBC4 page, but there's more info and some video clips as well:

"How a group of talented misfits turned a "giddy little pop mag" into a "snarling underground paper". The New Musical Express defined British pop music in the 1970s, 80s and 90s and launched the careers of many of today's leading journalists.

Includes interviews with Nick Kent, Chrissie Hynde, Danny Baker, Nicky Wire, Charles Shaar Murray, Hugh Cornwell, Paul Morley and Tony Parsons."

So! There were some brief clips whilst Nick Kent mentioned a certain 'Steve' Morrissey used to write him a lot of letters to which he "never ever replied". And then an account of the whole Finsbury Park debacle. They basically admitted there was an element of the witchhunt about the whole thing, but they were merely wondering why did they crucify their 'most entertaining and best selling copy' rather than admitting they might have gone a tad overboard. Some nice footage of him doing Everyday is Like Sunday on TOTP complete with ludicrously large quiff and of FOGTD from same prog.

    Thanks for the 'heads-up'.

Naomi, you haven't access to BBC4? I imagine that it'll be along on BBC2 before very long. Do you need a tape of it? The clips of EDILS were good to see. Tony Parsons was annoying (well, I find his accent annoying) and Paul Morley was loveable.

Thanks for the offer - I think I can wait tho. Was just interested to hear what the Mozesque content would be - did we learn anything new or interesting? And why EDILS? Why not 'Journalists Who Lie'....?!

No, there really wasn't much new, though because I'd not seen it before EDILS was amusing to see - Morrissey wearing a "Queen is Dead" T Shirt [I think] and without a backing band from 9 June 1988 [ref 'Passions Just Like Mine]. I was a bit taken aback by the amount of coverage the NME had been giving to Morrissey - I didn't buy it on a regular basis, chosing to read it in the local library, and because I liked Morrissey the coverage seemed not unusual, but teh people interviewed on this show (incl Kevinn Cummings) were saying that they kept putting him in to sell copies.
