    Default Kill Uncle Re-release ?

All this talk about Kill Uncle made me think that Morrissey should redo it. I mean the production is just horrible, but the melodies and the lyrics are great. It would be a nice treat to us the fans!

We should start a petition =)

Don*t you find that "us fans" more than anything need him to come up with some new material? looks like - once more - he*s been lying about having a new album ready to record. or was he lying to that argentinian interviewer... well.

other than that I agree with you, of course, Kill Uncle is a lovely album.

Default Once Again, Kill Uncle Production Gripes...

For the life of me, I just can't see what people have against the production on Kill Uncle.

Sure, it sounds different from Viva Hate. It's a gentler sounding record, perfectly suited for gorgeous ballads such as "there's a place..." & mid-tempo numbers like "(i'm) the end..." and "Sing Your Life". It's a clear record, and you can appreciate all of the melodies, instruments and sounds used in each track.

Just what does everyone want? Rock 'N' Roll? Yeah... rock on, Moz... "Boy Racer"... YEAHHHH WOOOOOOHHHH (*fists pumping*). Sure "Your Arsenal " had a fun, rock sound to it. But isn't it a bit unsubtle at times? Songs like "Fatty", "We Hate It"... while they're fun to listen to, they're just so rudimentary... and lack the sonic experimentation and nuances of Morrissey's early singles with Street.

Now Maladjusted on the other hand... give that a listen for a lesson on bad production. Heavy sounding, unclear, dull, boring. Then again, the problem with that record was in the writing as well.

To me, the bad production is evident when you hear the songs live. Live the songs the melodies are more upbeat, which seems to transmit a better effect than the ballad sound that you mention. Morrissey's voice sounds too far away from in the studio version as if he where singing 10 feet away from the microphone. I really don't know what effect they where trying to do, but it doesn't fit with the record.

The production for Southpaw is not at all bad. Yes, the rocking sound is great; there are clever little snippets in the songs that make them better-in the boyracer there so many little sounds going on the instrumental parts. Like the little "scooby-doo" effect...

Maladajusted, I completely agree, but yet I like album...
